If someone said that at one point Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka did not see eye to eye, it would be quite unbelievable. But it was once a reality, that the two stars were not amicable and started the most entertaining feud in the golf world. What’s interesting was that Koepka and DeChambeau were not really trying to one-up each other on the greens, but their rift was about totally uncalled for.
It all started in 2019 at the Dubai Desert Classic. As known, DeChambeau uses his scientific calculations before hitting a shot, taking more time, which did not sit well with Koepka. The 5-time major winner called out the “long hitter” and those who use “calculations” for slow play and expressed his frustration over it. Now, Koepka didn’t name anyone, but it was probably directed toward the Scientist. DeChambeau then confronted his arch-rival’s caddie at the Northern Trust in August.
The feud was then expected to be buried as they even sat for a friendly interview with SiriusXM and discussed the possibility of a fight between the two, which Koepka would have won. Even DeChambeau agreed. However, the next year, while live streaming Fortnite on Twitch, DeChambeau shot daggers at Koepka’s abs-less physique.

In the next 24 hours, Koepka showcased his 4 major trophies and slapped back at DeChambeau, saying that he was right and needed only 2 more to complete the packs. Things started spiraling down from there with Koepka joking about DeChambeau, asking for relief at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational because of Ant Hill, or hinting on his wife’s Q&A that he didn’t have anything to say about DeChambeau, as the Golf Digest reported.
But DeChambeau won the 2020 US Open and hit back at Koepka, who told SkySports that one does not have to go scientific to win a major. Post that unfolded two more things, eye rolls and all which set the feud on fire.

At the 2021 PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka was giving an interview to Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis. When suddenly he lost his track of thoughts. The reason was Bryson DeChambeau as he was walking behind him at the cart path and his metal spiked made enough noise to disturb Koepka. Frustratingly, he rolled his eyes and said, “I lost my train of thought. Yeah, hearing that bullsh-t.” But things did not stop there.
At the Memorial Championship later, the fans joined in for the feud as they started teasing the 2-time US Open winner. Whenever he was teeing it up the crowd cheered, “brooksy” and disturbed DeChambeau. The matter was escalated when Koepka offered beers to whoever did that but the PGA Tour quickly banned it and released that anyone saying it would be thrown out. But things were soon coming together as the two were selected for the Ryder Cup.
With all things forgotten, the two even hugged each other as Team USA won over the Europeans at Whistling Straits. They even played The Match and had fun banter to keep it entertaining. And then, for the next few months, nothing happened, until the two joined LIV Golf, becoming way closer than ever before. In early 2023, Koepka relayed that they were finally on good terms and it was because of LIV.

He said, “I actually talk to him quite frequently because of what’s going on here at LIV.” And now the two will reportedly be playing as a team against Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler for a match in mid-December. From enemies to friends and now they will hope to become winners together.
