In late 2023, Justin Thomas admitted that he was trying a new dairy-free and gluten-free diet. The PGA Tour pro was adamant about improving his gut and overall health. Hence, he went for a non-dairy diet for six months and a gluten-free diet for a year. The 31-year-old admitted that he only took up the challenge so that he could break his losing streak. However, the streak hasn’t been broken yet, and Thomas has failed to keep up with the diet due to his hectic schedule. In fact, he also ended up asking everyone, “If you guys hear of me doing that again, tell me to stop.” Fast forward to 2025, and it seems like he might have inspired an LPGA Tour pro to try this experiment as well.
Nelly Korda sat down for a press conference for the 2025 Ford Championship a few hours ago. During the interview, one of the journalists asked her, ” I know you’re a big coffee lover. Seems like there is a lot of really cool coffee shops in the area. Have you found anywhere that you’ve been religiously going to?” Everyone knows how much Korda loves coffee as she often enjoys her cup of Joe with her cat, Rafi. Quick to respond, the world no. 1 said, “No, not yet. I went to this place called Cartel twice, and then another one that actually — I think Megan (Khang) recommended the other day. I’m dairy-free right now, which is so heartbreaking. I’m hoping it’s really just not permanent because oat milk lattes do not hit the same way.” It seems that the LPGA Tour star has followed Thomas’s suit and given up on dairy.
The journalist confirmed, “So you’re a whole milk girl?” as they want to know Korda’s preference when she is not going dairy-free. They got an instant response from the pro golfer as she said, ” Yeah, whole milk, raw milk girl actually,” suggesting that she prefers unprocessed milk. Still wanting to know why the sudden change in diet, the reporter questioned, “Do you mind me asking what was the motivation behind doing that?” Explaining why she chose this path, Korda replied, “Just to sort out like my gut issues, yeah,” which suggests that she might be suffering from a gut health issue. Well, giving up dairy products is certainly a great way to deal with it.

Nelly Korda might need something stronger than a coffee after round 1
The first round of the 2025 Ford Championship was a big wake-up call for Nelly Korda. Even if she can’t find a great cup of Joe near the Seville Golf and Country Club, she will still have to show up for the remaining rounds of the tournament. The defending champion had a 5-under par 67 at the end of the first day. However, it was not enough for her to reach the top of the leaderboard after 18 holes.

The round was dominated by her rival, Charley Hull, who managed a flawless 9-under par 63, nearly twice what Korda scored. The likes of Lilia Vu, Brooke Henderson, and Ayaka Furue are all ahead of her on the leaderboard. The world No. 1 will really need to level up her game if she wants to catch up with Hull and others and defend her title successfully.
