He explained, “So I go out there and I see this kid with a pull cart”. The coach was surprised to see an 18-year-old boy with a pull cart in 2011 when almost everyone had stopped using them. Gregory was impressed looking at DeChambeau trying to strip his shots. However, he was not very happy with what he saw in the golfer’s behavior.

No one will agree to find DeChambeau humble after such a terrible description. Thankfully, it was not the case with the highly experienced 2x NCAA Coach of the Year. Gregory immediately picked up his phone, called DeChambeau, and told him “I’m going to offer you a full scholarship over the phone.” The incident was enough to humble the golfer and it made DeChambeau sob on the phone for minutes.
