The first major event of the LPGA season is not turning out as expected. Many big names such as Lydia Ko, former winner Lexi Thompson, and Charley Hull missed the cut at The Club at Carlton Woods on Saturday. Their exit from the game stunned the fans, and not in a good way. Lydia Ko shared with her fans in an Instagram post how disheartened she is about missing the cut at the season’s first major event.

World. No. 1, Lydia Ko missed the cut at the Chevron Championship

Following a rain delay during the second round in Texas on Saturday, Ko had to make up three shots on two holes to stay below the cut line when play resumed. However, Ko’s hopes were dashed when she made a bogey on the 17th hole. Although the World No.1 managed to pull back a shot with a birdie on the 18th, Ko still finished her second round at three-over par, two shots behind the one-over cut line.

During her second round on Saturday, Ko made two birdies, but four bogeys and a double bogey, and missed three putts for birdie, which made it difficult for her to stay in the game before her exit was confirmed on Sunday morning.

Lexi Thompson, Charley Hull, and Grace Kim are among the prominent players who were eliminated from the tournament. In round 2, World No. 6 Thompson, who previously won the Chevron Championship in 2014, had to make a birdie on one of her last two holes but could not do so. Charley Hull, the LPGA star, made an attempt to recover after her first-round score of 79. Although she improved in Round 2 by eight strokes, her endeavors were ultimately in vain.
