The LPGA season opener is just a sleep away from enlightening golf fans with a talented group of female golfers. The Tournament of Champions will kick start the 2023 season for the Women’s Tour. However, an unfortunate update has been revealed ahead of the event in Orlando. The 2021 TOC winner Jessica Korda reacted to the news by adding her dismay.
Similar to its previous editions, the 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions will also be held at Lake Nona Golf Course in Orlando, Florida. However, not everyone is a fan of the notable golf club.
In an article by Golf Week’s Beth Ann Nichols, it was revealed that the host of the 2023 TOC will not have any locker rooms for the LPGA players. Though the news surprised many, six-time LPGA winner Jessica Korda further added a point to the shocking update.

Jessica Korda was already aware of TOC’s poor facilities
The Tournament of Champions is contested among the golfers who’ve won an LPGA event in the past two seasons. Korda claimed victorious during the 2021 edition of the tournament. Following Golf Week’s article exposing the lack of basic facilities offered by Lake Nona Golf Club, the LPGA star had another fact to add.

Jessica Korda tweeted, “We didn’t have lockers last year either”. However, she did add about having a storage room during her win in 2021 and before that. “We did have lockers years prior at TOC”. In the end, the 29-year-old specifies the reason behind her tweet was to create awareness about the event.

“Important to clarify and have all facts so people don’t think it’s just this year”, she ended. The event host, Lake Nona Country Club, does have a men’s locker room. However, they haven’t managed to create one for the other gender.
The LPGA stars do have a bathroom and shower facility in the women’s facility. But the golfers will have to find a loophole to store their golf equipment in between the rounds. This is quite poor from LPGA for not providing their golfers with the basic facilities.

It is great to see big names like Jessica Korda coming out of their comfort zone to share the truth behind the scenes. Hopefully, the Tour will respect the words of their players and choose the hosts more decisively moving forward. Additionally, after learning about the locker situation, Hilton Grand Vacations worked in partnership with Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and the LPGA to install 36 additional lockers prior to the official start of the HGV Tournament of Champions tomorrow. This ensures that every female at the tournament – both LPGA Players and celebrity players
