Despite being on a long break from the game, the legend of the sport Tiger Woods had joined forces with the players to become a part of the PGA Tour Policy Board a few months ago. Woods along with other veteran golfers, including the likes of Rory McIlroy had been working to guarantee that the Tour remains player-driven. However, a recent surprise had seen the latter leave the board, citing various reasons.
And, chosen to replace the Northern Irishman, was none other than Jordan Spieth. The 30-year-old, surprisingly, was all praise for Woods ahead of the Hero World Challenge after the latter expressed his desire to stand up for the game of golf and its players, all the while seeking to protect its “integrity!”

The golf world had been faced with nothing short of a surprise when the news of the $3 billion merger was announced. However, they saw a sense of relief when the 82X PGA Tour champ decided to join the dedicated body as a Player Director. And, when asked about the ongoing situation along with McIlroy’s withdrawal, the 47-year-old had a lot to say.
During a press conference ahead of the Hero World Challenge, the 15X Major winner divulged how there are “a lot of different parts that are moving” as the board tries to reach a conclusion regarding the deal. Thus, he emphasized the reason for the need to “protect what the tour is and the integrity of that and the players.”
And, commenting on the golfer was his PGA Tour counterpart, Spieth. The 3X major champ mentioned how Woods “doesn’t sleep a lot” all the while expressing his acclaim for the Hall of Famer. Adding on, the 2015 U.S. Open winner disclosed how Mr. T has been “spending most of his waking hours thinking about how to better the PGA TOUR for the players.”

The 1997 Masters Tournament champ had already been on his toes after becoming a part of the board a few months back. However, the withdrawal and resignation of McIlroy from the body would have surely pushed him to put in more work regarding the same.

The 34-year-old had exited the board with just a single year remaining before the end of his term, citing personal reasons for focusing on the sport and his family better. Woods was naturally “disappointed” with the departure of the Northern Irish golfer from the PGA tour policy board.
However, he was extremely considerate of the Northern Irishman’s decision as he took to the presser ahead of the Hero World Challenge. The 47-year-old pro stated, “I understand why Rory made that decision” all the while expressing his support for the 24X PGA Tour champ’s future.
