Till the month of July, Glover who has been on the PGA Tour for more than a decade now, had only four wins to his name. But come August and Glover set out to change his fate. In the first week, he registered an impressive victory at the Wyndham Championship to his name.
The Wyndham win was the last event of the regular season that gave Glover the ticket to be in the top 70 players and try his luck in FedEx Cup playoffs. And he was not content with just one win. Last week he maintained a strong position through all rounds and on Sunday he won with a par on the first extra hole. Speaking about the achievement he said: “If you told me this three months ago, I’d tell you you’re crazy.”
He continued: “But at the same time, if you asked me legitimately did I think I was capable, I’d say yes, even then.” And with his back-to-back wins, he has become the first player 40 years or older to win back-to-back on the Tour in 15 years. Earlier, this record was set by Fijian Vijay Singh in 2008.

Winning one tournament in consecutive weeks is a rare feat to achieve on the PGA Tour. In 2008, Singh made a similar victory in the month of August. On 24th Aug, he won The Barclays and the next week carried on his victory streak at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Singh was 45 years old at the time and was a big rival of Tiger Woods.

The love-hate relationship between Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh
Vijay Singh has been a prominent name in the golf world and is considered among Tiger Woods’ biggest rivals. Woods’ long-time Caddie, Steve Williams revealed in a podcast that the duo had a love-hate relationship. A peak point in the rivalry came in 2004 when Singh displaced Tiger Woods from the top of the rankings. For 264 consecutive weeks, Woods was the undisputed king before Singh dethroned him.
It looks like Lucas Glover has similar intentions. This week he will be heading into the BMW Championship, the second event of the FedEx Cup play-offs. Will he be able to stretch this streak for three weeks? Drop your comments below.
