The golf world has seen a lot of discussions with regard to who will make the team for the upcoming Ryder Cup. But now, the conversation has changed its focus to the captain’s picks that would take up the rest of the six spots on both teams. And taking part in this dialogue, after golfing beauty Paige Spiranac is none other than Brian Harman, who had much to say about the skipper’s choices.

While Spiranac unveiled her list of potential golfers for the squad in her podcast, the PGA Tour Pro took to his interviews as he talked about the chances of LIV Golfers making the team. Moreover, the golf community found itself in a state of surprise as the American golfer revealed his positive albeit confusing stance on Brooks Koepka‘s addition to the squad, leaving many curious.

There has been much controversy and discussion regarding whether LIV Golfers should get a chance to play in the prestigious tournament. While the European side has made it clear that the defectors who resigned their DP World Tour membership will not be selected, the same hasn’t been the case for the US team. Koepka had his chances to qualify automatically till Harman, Xander Schauffele and Max Homa overtook him after the FedEx playoffs.

Addressing the press conference ahead of the 2023 TOUR Championship, Harman mentioned how the LIV defector would make a pretty good addition to the team. “Brooks he’s right there” responded the 36-year-old to a question regarding his thoughts on the fellow American golfer, as he continued to say, “I’m not totally familiar with his record in Ryder Cups, but the experience would certainly help” while expressing his support for the Smash GC captain.

Even so, the PGA Tour Pro made sure to end his response by emphasizing the skipper Zach Johnson’s preference for the team selection. He talked about how the golfers whom the captain picks as his wild cards while keeping in mind the ultimate goal, to win the Ryder Cup, should be on the team since there would be a fair amount of rookies on the course during the event.

Harman is but one of the many athletes who supported the LIV Golfers taking part in the Ryder Cup. The golfing queen had taken to her podcast, Playing a Round with Paige, to talk about a possible matchup between two golfers, namely Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy.

Although the diva did not include ‘Lefty’ in her list of players for the captain’s pick, she mentioned how exciting it would be for a possible tussle between McIlroy and the LIV Golfer. Referring to the gambling rumors and the subsequent back-and-forth scuffle between the two, she explained the whole situation of how the PGA Tour Pro took a jab at the other for his bet on the Ryder Cup in 2012 which he was a part of.

But she was quick to mention how the inclusion of Phil into the US team might not turn out for the better as it would prove to be a distraction for the team. Moreover, it would give the European team a lot of ammunition with regard to their conviction in beating a team with a LIV Golfer in it. Mickelson’s defection to the Saudi-backed league and his gambling allegations had caused much displeasure within the golf community.
