Donald Trump has an immense love for golf, and that’s no secret! Besides being the owner of numerous golf courses, he is completely invested in the game. In fact, the ex-POTUS’ skill is so evident that he has achieved feats that many pro golfers have yet to achieve.

And now seeking inspiration from the ex-President is a golf course designer. This man, who has designed an exclusive golf course that will soon be opened, followed in Trump’s footsteps and made a similar achievement. Let’s dive in to find out more.

Donald Trump has an extraordinary achievement in golf to boast about. Last year, he admitted to making seven holes-in-one throughout his unofficial golfing career. It is a rare feat that even pro golfers cannot easily claim. And now a somewhat similar achievement has been bagged by golf course architect Gil Hanse on the course that he designed.

Hanse accomplished this feat last week when he was playing in the company of some very big names from the business world at the Ladera Golf Club in Thermal, which will soon open. It included Hanse’s business partner, Jim Wagner, PGA Tour Policy Board member Jimmy Dunne, Apple executive Eddy Cue, course owner Irving Azoff and his son, Jeffrey, a venture capitalist, and managing partner at the Creative Artists Agency, Geoff Yang.

At the par-3 8th hole, Dunne proposed a bet to the rest of the group to make the game more interesting. The idea was that $20 would be given to anyone who made it closest to the pin. Moreover, if anyone managed an ace on the hole, they’d be given $1000 from all the others! After Azoff, the best of the group went first and didn’t come close to a hole in one; the stakes for it were upped to $10,000 (from each).

Surprisingly, it was Dunne himself who hit the closest. But then it was Hanse’s turn, who, of course, aced the hole. After all, it was his territory. He later said, “Nine-iron, and I hit it right where I wanted to, because obviously we designed it and we know where to hit it. It came off great and landed.” And with that, the architect had won himself $60,000!

However, Hanse was all class and refused to take the bet of $60,000 from his friends, which he righteously won. The group then came up with the noble idea of donating the money to the Caveman Scholarship Foundation, which Hanse and Wagner oversee.

In an interview later, Hanse called the shot “The highlight of my golf career,” and with it, of course, he inched closer to Trump’s incredible achievement as he followed in his footsteps!

Last year, a picture of Trump with Ernie Els, Gene Sauers, Ken Duke, and Mike Goodes was making the rounds on the internet. The photo was taken on his Trump International course in West Palm Beach, and rumors of Trump making an ace at the 181-yard par-3 seventh hole at the course were going around. A few weeks later, the former president clarified that they were indeed true.

In an interview given to Piers Morgan on his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, Donald Trump admitted that he did make that hole. “Many people are asking, so I’ll give it to you now; it is 100% true.” When Piers further asked Trump if this is the first time he has made a hole-in-one, he replied, “No. I’ve had seven.”

Now that he’s already taken his first steps toward replicating Trump’s legacy, will Hanse now look to replicate all seven of Trump’s aces? And will he be able to achieve this really difficult achievement? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
