The 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand is ready to go, with the field finalized after the Friday entry deadline. The tournament, taking place at the stunning Siam Country Club’s Pattaya Old Course from February 20-23, will mark the LPGA Tour’s first full-field event of the season. A 72-player field is set to compete, including big names like Ayaka Furue, Patty Tavatanakit, and Jin Young Ko, all chasing a piece of the $1.7 million purse.

This event kicks off the LPGA’s winter Asian Swing, played in its usual spot on the calendar. Notably, there won’t be any Monday qualifiers, and any withdrawals will be replaced by players on the week-of alternate list, with Hira Naveed and Wei-Ling Hsu first in line. While the top players gear up for a thrilling week, there are some big names missing from the action. Here are the top 5 players that will not be a part of the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand.

1. Nelly Korda

Ahead of the 2025 HGV Tournament of Champions, Nelly Korda was asked about the extra week off in the LPGA Tour’s schedule this season. With the tour starting later than usual, she expressed how much she enjoyed the time to unwind, particularly since she was one of the few players who finished her season late due to the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational. Korda also shared, “I won’t be going to Asia this year, so I have a little bit of time off there as well.”

This means that Korda won’t be competing in the Asian leg of the LPGA Tour this season, which might be a disappointment for her fans in that region who were hoping to see her play. Given that the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand is in Asia, she will not be teeing off in the coming week.

2. Lydia Ko

As the LPGA Tour celebrates its 75th anniversary season, the spotlight is on the record-breaking purse of $131 million. In a recent interview, Lydia Ko opened up about her ambitions for the season and beyond when asked about her career goals. Reflecting on her earlier days, she shared, “The career Grand Slam was probably my biggest goal,” adding that she didn’t fully realize just how tough it would be to achieve. Looking back at her performance in 2024, Ko acknowledged that she’s working in the right direction with her team.

“I’m still playing golf; I want to play the best golf I can,” she stated, noting that she’s focused on the two majors she’s yet to win: the US Women’s Open and the KPMG PGA Championship. However, her main focus is the US Women’s Open, as it represents a more exclusive achievement. “That is an even smaller pool of people that have won that,” she explained. This likely means Ko will skip some events in order to stay laser-focused on reaching her ultimate goal, which could explain her absence this weekend.

3. Charley Hull

In 2024, Charley Hull’s season took an unexpected turn after a freak accident. The talented English golfer was riding high, with goals of an Olympic medal and several other achievements, but a slip in the shower derailed her plans. “I fell over coming out of the shower before I was getting my flight back from the US,” Hull shared. “I thought I tore something, but nothing came up on the MRI scan. I just have a bit of arthritis now in my shoulder.”

The injury forced Charley Hull to take time off from competitive golf, and even when she returned, the arthritis made it difficult for her to swing the way she’s known for. As 2025 begins, Hull is still focused on her recovery, which might explain her absence from the TOC and the Founders Cup, where she finished t19. It seems she’s choosing to take the time needed to regain her form and return stronger. However, no official statement has been made so far.

4. Hannah Green

After a solid T7 finish at the 2021 Honda LPGA Thailand, her performance in the event has taken a downturn. In fact, she’s struggled to crack the top-25 in her last three appearances, despite starting her season with the tournament in both 2023 and 2024. While the reason behind her absence this year isn’t officially known, it’s possible that after those disappointing results, she chose not to compete. However, she’s found success elsewhere this season, finishing in the top-20 in both of the other events she’s played, including a near-podium finish at the Founders Cup with a T4.

5. Rose Zhang

Rose Zhang’s withdrawal from the second LPGA event of the season caught many by surprise, especially after her strong performance in the season opener, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. However, there’s a valid reason behind her absence at the tournament in Bradenton, Florida, from February 6-9, 2025. The 21-year-old, despite her successful golf career, is also focused on her education at Stanford University, where she’s been pursuing a degree in Communications since 2021.

With her professional commitments, Zhang can only take classes during the winter quarter, meaning she won’t graduate until 2027. This dedication to both academics and golf could explain why fans might see her playing less frequently in the coming years, and also the reason why she will not tee off at the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand.
