The U.S. Open is all set to begin this weekend. Lots of players from the PGA Tour as well as the LIV Golf Series are expected to play their best shots. It is after the recent statement issued by the USGA that many of these players from the Saudi-backed series are going to be present on the course.
However, there are a few who won?t be showing up in this season?s third men?s major. These legends have made their name by sheer hard work and passion. But somehow, these five players are going to miss this year?s event.

Why are golf legends missing the 2022 U.S. Open?
Golfers mentioned in the list below are not a part of the event for their unique reasons. While some could not qualify for the tournament, others are suffering from physical issues. Here?s a list of the five players missing the event:
- Tiger Woods

The first among these big names is everyone?s favorite Tiger Woods. Woods is not only good on the course, but his wisdom and unbiased opinion on everything has given him a whole new fan base. Unfortunately, we won?t be seeing him on the field due to his unhealed injuries. He recently withdrew from a tournament due to the underlying pain in his leg post-accident.
- Rickie Fowler

Former World. No. 4 Rickie Fowler has a record of five PGA Tour victories. However, he has not had a nice record on the course lately. The golfer missed five cuts in 12 PGA Tour appearances. He will also not be playing in the U.S. Open this year. The golfer also didn?t play in the tournament the last time.
- Paul Casey

Another case of withdrawal due to injury is of Former World No. 3 Paul Casey. The golfer has been on hold since March after his back injury, and has stepped back from playing in the U.S. Open this year. Casey will hopefully play at the next month?s 150th Open Championship as he feels he will get better by then.
- Bubba Watson

12-time PGA winner Bubba Watson also falls on the list of the best players who are not a part of the U.S. Open this year. The 43-year-old is going through a torn meniscus and is not physically fit to play in the event. The golfer has tons of records under his name, but his recent surgery has come between him and his presence in the tournament.
- Lee Westwood

The last name on our list is former World No. 1, Lee Westwood. The golfer also scored second place in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship in 2021. But unfortunately, his performance graphs on the course have slumped down recently. The player will not be able to appear in the U.S. Open due to his current Official World Golf Ranking, 78th, which has made him fall short of the qualification criteria.
