The rivalry between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour has always flamed through the golf world. But this time, it’s been taken to a whole new level. How? Well, Smash GC, Brooks Koepka‘s team, brutally shaded PGA Tour star Justin Thomas. The team took a dig at Thomas for missing the cut at the 50th PLAYERS Championship.
The story interestingly goes back to when Smash GC’s member Talor Gooch called Rory McIlroy’s potential victory at the 2024 Masters to come with an asterisk as fewer LIV Golf players will be there and the field will be weaker. Drawing on that incident, JT, before he started at THE PLAYERS Championship, joked, “I’m not going to have an asterisk next to my name for winning this because the field wasn’t too good, right?”
Now, the X handle of Smash GC retweeted the quote said by the 15-time PGA Tour winner and captioned it with an asterisk accompanied by a scissor making most of the statement and a pun about Thomas missing the cut at THE PLAYERS Championship.

The tweet went viral within an instant. How could it not? Another LIV and PGA Tour rivalry is just the drama some fans yearn for. Many liked the savage reply that Smash GC had dished out and the start of banter between them and JT that it indicated.
Netizens enjoy the monstrous move on Justin Thomas by Koepka’s team
The burn for Justin Thomas, though not confirmed by many in the golf world, was assumed to be written by the captain himself. Because Brooks Koepka had been known to be honest and quite sharp with his words, it perhaps wouldn’t be surprising to know that he did have a small part in posting the tweet. However, regardless of who posted it, fans agreed that it was “f***ing gold”!
Over the years, Justin Thomas has landed in a lot of hot water. And as one fan noted, this was just one more instance added to the list of his embarrassing moments.
Everyone: Justin Thomas can’t say anything more embarrassing than he already has over the last couple years
JT: Hold my beer

One user made a daggering remark at JT and his close friend Jordan Spieth, who also missed the cut. Interestingly, they compared the two to Henrik Norlander and David Lingmerth, two pros who didn’t find too much success on the PGA Tour.
Him and Jordan Spieth are about as relevant as Henrik Norlander and David Lingmerth now. Games in absolute blenders.

Another fan just absolutely loved the hilarity and savage jibe that Smash GC made.
Fucking gold 🤣🤣🤣

Fans even speculated that the team account was probably operated by Brooks Koepka himself. They claimed he was definitely capable of such brutal savagery, and they were more than excited for the drama that was “brewing,” especially with the Masters fast approaching.
This is great. No way this wasn’t ran by Brooks first. Possibly a real rivalry brewing. Augusta is a month (!!!) away.

Another user had to double-check whether the tweet was not fake. And when he did realize it wasn’t, he claimed that SMASH GC “woke up and chose violence.”
