He has also sealed his position in the team that would play the upcoming Ryder Cup in Rome.
Speaking at the post-round conference after shining bright in his final round, Hovland spoke about three things that ensured his victory at the East Lake Golf Club. He also touched upon his expectations about the Ryder Cup. Hovland expressed his joy about the support he received from his homeland during the tournament.

One question addressed the fact that there were some Norwegian flags following him this weekend. The question reiterated the fact that Hovland is the leader in the Norwegian golf landscape and recalled how he is the first Norwegian to win on the PGA Tour.
Now that he has also become the first Norwegian to win the FedEx Cup, it definitely is a proud moment for the star and his fans from his homeland.
Hovland recalled how he had not been home in a long time. “Obviously a long ways from home and I don’t get to spend much time at home. All my family and friends are there. I really cherish the time that I am home and I get to see everyone.”
Hovland admitted that to have the support from back home has been pretty cool. He explained how the flags were probably of the Discovery team that has been covering the game. “Yeah, it’s just really fun to think about all the support from back home.”

A bogey-free final round for the Norwegian
Initially, Viktor Hovland relied on the allotted lead to stay on top of the leaderboard during the first round. He scored a humble 2-under, but he stood at T1, thanks to the 8-score lead he started off with.
However, in the second round, he improved his score and bagged a 6-under, which included seven birdies and a bogey. In the third round, the score went down a bit to 4-under, including five birdies and a bogey. The fourth round was by far his best round. The Norwegian star scored an impressive 7-under. A bogey-free final round with seven birdies took Hovland to the very top of the leaderboard.
