Julien Brun is a well-known French professional golfer. Following his 2015 professional debut, Brun went on to claim two Challenge Tour victories and one win during his amateur days. The 31-year-old has made a name for himself on a number of international tours, including the European Tour, Challenge Tour, and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Julien has consistently been regarded as a prominent player throughout his professional career.

At the DP World Tour’s Italian Open, expectations for the 31-year-old were quite high. From May 4 to 7, the tournament took place at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. The French professional started the competition with an even-par round of 71 and then shot a strong 70 to finish. The happy times did not last long, though, as Brun ruined everything the following day.

The three-time Challenge Tour winner got off to a rough start on Saturday. However, Brun’s poor luck lasted the whole day and things got worse from bad. The 31-year-old continued to play poorly, making bogeys on holes 1, 4, 6, and 7. Even after this catastrophe-class event, everything continued. Brun made bogeys again on holes 15 and 17 and double bogeys on the 8th, 11th, and 12th holes before recording a triple bogey on the 14th hole. Even though he had three birdies, the French great finished the agonizing day with a 12-over 83. However, that is not even the worse part.

According to Golf, the recklessness of Brun, which included his breaching of the rules, is what draws the most notice. The 31-year-old received a penalty stroke on the first hole for lifting his ball and attempting to clean it. However, he broke the rule again as he did the same thing again just after five holes. Additionally, on holes 8 and 11, the three-time Challenge Tour champion blasted his tee shot into the water. Brun’s poor luck persisted when he lost his tee shot on the 12th hole. Finally, on the fourteenth hole, he misfired on his tee shot and sent it out of bounds.

However, the 31-year-old’s contributions did not end there; they were just the beginning. Brun missed a 2-footer and a 5-footer in the 11th and 12th holes, respectively. On the 17th, he missed a 5-foot attempt once more.

On Sunday, though, Brun changed the situation as he recovered somewhat. Even though a 75 is not all that impressive, he was eight shots better and ended with that score. This bouncing back on Sunday helped the 31-year-old finish the Italian Open in 72nd place.
