Brodcasters mute Tyrell Hatton
Golf can sometimes become frustrating when the ball is not going the way you want. Professionals often find themselves in agony after hitting a bad shot or missing a putt on the wrong line. Moreover, this is the case with Tyrrell, and it again happened at the 2022 WGC Dell Match Play in his match versus the American professional, Daniel Berger.
Hatton missed a putt for birdie and to win the hole on the ninth hole in his match. And was cussing at the ball as his putt went offline, and he missed the putt from the right side of the hole. However, this time the broadcasters had just the solution to cover Tyrrell’s outburst.

The ESPN broadcasters proactively muted the mic when the British professionals missed the 13 feet putt. He missed the putt on the ninth hole and was seen furious with himself for missing it. However, ESPN covered up for him and muted the mics when he looked angry with himself and tried to read the line of the ball again. He seemed to say something, but as the mics were muted the viewers were not able to hear him.

Maybe this is the best way to cover his outburst on the course, but muting him saves the announcers from apologizing for his words. It was funny to watch him on mute. However, in the end, Hatton got some respite as he won his match against Beger. Tyrrell won the match with a 2up lead over Daniel and won all of his three matches in group 13.
Tyrrell Hatton has an outbreak history
It is not the only time when Tyrrell has suffered a similar outbreak. Back in 2021 at Royal St Geroge’s he had a similar outburst and snapped his club in half at the Open Championship. Moreover, the professional had a disappointing double bogey on the 11th hole and expressed the frustration by saying, “Absolute f**king bollocks.”
