For the past few months, discussions have often circled around the PGA Tour, money, and other organizations looking to set up rival leagues. Though fans often discuss the same, it is rare that a player decides to share their own views. In a recent interview, Phil Mickelson – who will always remain one of the most popular golfers – expressed disappointment over the tour and their handling of media rights.

What makes it complicated is all the money involved. Mickelson, who has many options open to him, seemed to be particularly poked by the media rights. In response, he referred to the tour as greedy.

It goes without saying that fans found Mickelson’s comments interesting, many reacting on social media with their own opinions.

While speaking with Golf Digest, Mickelson went into detail while discussing the PGA Tour and their media rights. He shared a personal story, revealing that he had to pay those concerned $1 million every time he wanted to have access to his shots from ‘The Match”.
“That type of greed is, to me, beyond obnoxious,” Mickelson said.

Additionally, the 51-year-old icon also discusses his loyalty to the game and maybe playing for some other tour or series. After all, Mickelson has been around since the 90s and has helped make the tour what it is today.
He mentioned all the other complexities involved, indicating that the tour itself might push people towards other opportunities. “And it is the tour’s obnoxious greed that has really opened the door for opportunities elsewhere”.
