Scottie Scheffler’s historic 2024 season will be etched in the memories of golf enthusiasts for years to come. With a slew of impressive wins, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players Championship, Masters Tournament, RBC Heritage, Memorial Tournament, Travelers Championship, and Tour Championship, Scheffler pocketed a whopping $34.1 million in prize money. To top it all off, he also clinched the FedEx Cup title, his first, and was awarded the Jack Nicklaus Award for the third consecutive season.

Scheffler’s triumphs didn’t stop there. He also proudly took home the Paris Olympic gold medal and contributed to Team USA’s victory in the Presidents Cup. When reflecting on his journey, he shared, “Trying to take care of a newborn during that time was definitely a bit different. I wasn’t sleeping that well anyway.”

Despite the challenges, Scheffler remained focused and humble, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m not really exactly sure how to describe it other than it’s been a lot of fun.” Tiger Woods praised Scheffler’s incredible season, noting, “As straight as he hits it, an unbelievable short game. He will experience that for many more years to come.” Yet, it is surprising that the golf fans are still not very impressed with the golfer. But why exactly are the fans hating the golfer?

“Already forgot “, and “I love Scottie but he doesn’t move the needle 😴.” Yes, this is what the golf fans are saying in the comment section of the PGA Tour recap video. But why exactly is that? Scheffler really did have an amazing run in the year 2024. But are we really surprised? Considering the amount of hate players got when the PGA Tour released the latest developments on the Ryder Cup rules. The fans are left livid about the new announcement from the PGA of America, adding fuel to the fire, revealing that U.S. Ryder Cup players, including Scheffler, will receive a whopping $500,000 payment.

Moreover, the $300,000 go to a charity of their choice and $200,000 as a stipend for themselves, marking a significant increase from the previous $200,000 charitable donation and the first time players have received a stipend since the tournament’s inception in 1927. Another fan said, “The Sports world?? It’s just say the golf world and not go hyperbolic”, in reply to the PGA Tour’s choice of caption which was, “A season the sports world will not soon forget.”

Well, that kind of is true as not many people tuned in to watch Scottie Scheffler’s win at TPC Sawgrass, with only 3.53 million viewers, a significant drop from the 4.14 million who watched him dominate at the Masters last year. What’s even more alarming for the tour and NBC is that this was the lowest-rated Players broadcast for a completed Sunday final round in a decade, which raises some concerns about Scheffler’s ability to draw in audiences and move the needle, despite his impressive skills on the course.

But at the end of the day, some fans were also happy for the golfer’s success as these fans said, “This looks super awesome”, and “Just a great year for a great player.” And well, it really was. Not only did Scheffler write his name in the history book with indelible ink of his talent but he also welcomed his firstborn. On May 8, 2024, Scheffler welcomed his baby boy, Bennett, and his life has been filled with congratulations ever since – not just for his recent Masters win, but also for his new role as a father.
