After a 12-year absence, former PGA Tour star, who once captivated the golf world, made a shocking return in 2024—but this time as a player for Greg Norman’s LIV Golf. His first appearance since withdrawing from Quail Hollow in 2012 saw him tee off in Jeddah. But did his comeback live up to the ‘blockbuster’ expectations? Not exactly.

Since his return to LIV Golf in March at Jeddah, Kim’s journey has been tough. He played in 11 events but failed to earn a single point in the season standings. Once ranked as high as sixth in the world, with three PGA Tour wins between 2008 and 2010, Kim now finds himself struggling to stay competitive. However, thanks to his wildcard status, he managed to avoid relegation for the time being.

Last season, he finished 56 in the individual standings with no wins. Neither were his appearances great. His best finish was at the LIV Golf Greenbrier, where he landed on 36 on the leaderboard. Despite the shortcomings, he will still be making another comeback for the 2025 season. As announced by Anthony Kim Tracker on X, “OFFICIAL: Anthony Kim is a wild card player for the 2025 LIV Golf season!!! Another year of AK golfing.”

However, as it turns out, not everyone is happy with the decision to take back Anthony Kim.

Just when it seemed like the magic had faded, Kim found a chance to redeem himself on the Asian Tour. At the International Series Qatar event, he shot rounds of 71-72 to finish one under par, making his first cut since the 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational. While it wasn’t a flawless performance—three bogeys in the second round kept things tense—a crucial birdie on the final hole ensured he remained in the mix.

This is what makes people believe that Anthony Kim has still got it in him, and maybe this season might finally turn out to be his year. Taking to this, people left comments like, “Love it, go AK”, and “Bless this.  One of the few interesting storylines to follow in golf”.

Before Anthony Kim went on the long hiatus, he was almost so much fast-paced, that he would have matched the level of Tiger Woods. But since his comeback was such a disappointment last year, not everyone is excited to hear the news. While one of them wrote, “Spent ten years wondering where he was. Now all I want is for him to go away.” Another made a joke out of him and commented, “Turn the leaderboard upside down and you will find him in contention all year !”

While another accused LIV Golf and simply wrote, “Yeah I couldn’t imagine why LIV never qualified for OWGR points.”
