Bryson DeChambeau is back in the spotlight, and this time, it’s not just about his impressive golf skills. After a thrilling showdown with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, DeChambeau has been making waves with his candid confessions about the challenges of playing on a tour course. But what he revealed recently has sparked a heated debate among golf enthusiasts. Here’s the shocking truth that’s got everyone talking.
In the latest YouTube video on his channel, DeChambeau shared his honest thoughts about playing on a public golf course versus a tour course. “Hitting off of this type of stuff is way more difficult than hitting off of like a tour surface…it’s like hitting off of some dirt and sand, it’s brutal,” he confessed. He went on to explain the challenges of playing on uneven terrain, saying, “You got to pick it literally perfectly, so technically you guys are way better than me.”
DeChambeau also highlighted the level of precision required to hit great shots on a public course, saying, “This type of control that you have to have to hit great shots out here is probably more satisfying because of the level of precision.” He further contrasted this with the experience of playing on a tour course, where “you can kind of like mis-hit it or hit it in the rough, whatever, and it’s still a good lie, and you can then hit that shot and be totally fine.”

Netizens are bashing Bryson DeChambeau on his latest Tour revelation
Many are taking to social media to express their outrage. Bryson DeChambeau’s comments are being perceived as a slap in the face to golfers who can’t afford to play on fancy tour courses. His remarks about playing on a public course being “brutal” are also being criticized, with many feeling that he’s out of touch with the realities of golfing on municipal courses. One fan commented, “These guys have absolutely no idea of how spoiled they are”, while the other said, “Lol these rich kids make me laugh.”
And well, being a pro golfer DeChambeau may know a thing or two but the fans are right on the ‘rich’ aspect of the situation. The LIV star is one of the richest golfers out there, with an estimated net worth of around $60 million. Moreover, his deal with LIV Golf has significantly boosted his earnings, with the contract valued at a staggering $100-125 million, a portion of which was paid upfront. This lucrative deal has already started paying off, as evident from his first LIV event in 2022, where he took home a whopping $560,000, nearly three times his combined earnings from the previous seven tournaments that year. Considering that one fan said, “Nah. This is just complaining.”

But like many things in golf, fans were divided on this debate as well and some of them were saying, “100% agreed”, while the others were telling their personal experiences, “Yes, and the sand sucks!” And well it is true as the sand on public golf courses can be really bad. It’s often uneven, rocky, and wet, making it hard to hit good shots from the sand traps. But what do you think? Do you think public courses are harder than Tour courses?
