Is Trump's golf swing dance move a sign of confidence or a distraction from serious issues?

When you’re vibing, every move feels like a dance step. But a golf swing as a dance move? That’s a new twist—though maybe not so surprising when Donald Trump is on the stage. With the US Presidential Election just around the corner, Trump seems to be having the time of his life, using every moment to connect with his supporters. On Sunday, the former US President added a golf swing to his signature dance moves during a rally, sparking an online buzz.

A few days back as well, in one of his rallies in Arizona, Trump was seen doing his usual groovy moves with a golf swing. At that time, a golf influencer, Hailey Ostrom, hilariously pointed out that Trump’s dance moves resemble those of “When your friends drag you out to the club but you have a tee time in the morning.”

Trump’s love for golf is hardly a secret. He owns 16 courses, mostly in the US, along with a few in Scotland, Ireland, and the UAE. When he’s at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida residence, supporters know there’s a good chance of spotting him en route to his favorite local greens at Trump International in West Palm Beach. So, maybe it’s no surprise that his swing just flowed right into his dance moves.

Trump’s love for dance is also not a secret. At a town hall event in Pennsylvania in April, he busted out his signature moves and decided to have fun to music for a whopping 40 minutes after cutting his Q&A session short. He declared, “Let’s not do any more questions. Let’s just listen to music. Let’s make it into music. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?”

Was this his way of easing some campaign stress, or a signal that he’s already craving a day on the course? Fans have cooked up all sorts of theories about this unexpected dance move. While a faction of his supporters cheered on his carefree spirit, others were less impressed, leading to a whirlwind of reactions online.

Have an interesting take?

While many fans cheered him on, it’s surprising that Trump remains a hot topic without much outrage, especially given the divisive nature of his antics. One netizen echoed that frustration, calling him “a stain on our great game.” Even another user playfully added, “Lord help us.”

Does Trump’s impromptu dance move ring a bell? For many, it definitely does! One user humorously compared it to that burst of joy we all feel, writing, “Me when my wife puts a plate of fire food in front of me and I just realize I’m hungry.” Another came in, “I do this before huge work presentations,” perfectly capturing those relatable moments of excitement. Fans seem to love his moves, but his wife, Melania Trump on the other hand is not a fan. She finds him dancing at rallies unpresidential; “She doesn’t like when I dance a little bit to the [campaign] music,” said Trump.

While some fans appreciated his dance moves, posting comments like, “I love Donald Trump’s drive and spirit. Let’s go America. Trump2024!” and “Epic,” one super optimistic supporter declared, “This looks like a man who knows he’s winning on Tuesday!!” Then some noticed his swing and couldn’t help but comment, “Aw he really misses golfing, God bless him … Hope he plays a full 18 holes in celebration on Wednesday!” As an avid golfer, Trump has won 2 championships and loves golf. His support for the game speaks volumes.

He hasn’t played golf since an apparent assassination attempt near one of his courses back in September. Sources say he won’t be swinging clubs again until after the election. Trump asked the head of the Secret Service, Ronald Rowe, during a meeting last month whether it would be safe for him to continue golfing in the wake of the thwarted assassination attempt, and he was told he would need significant additional security given the proximity of some of his courses to public roads, per The New York Times. So it’s obvious that he’s really craving that time on the course, and you can see it shining through in his rally moves.
