The Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka rivalry may prove to be detrimental for Team LIV Golf going into The Showdown. The intense battle between Jay Monahan’s PGA Tour & Greg Norman’s LIV Golf is set to begin in the next few hours.
Fans are excited to see what happens when the best from both leagues go head-to-head to prove which side has better golfers. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy might have their differences considering the recent Ryder Cup decision taken by the PGA of America. But that is nothing compared to the spat between their opponents, Bryson DeChambeau & Brooks Koepka.
As per a report by GolfDigest, the two LIV Golf pros have been at each other’s throats ever since their time on the PGA Tour back in 2019. Back in January of that year, Koepka criticized slow players for ruining the pace of play while playing with DeChambeau. While it was not directed specifically at him, the media ended up starting the rumor mill as footage of the mad scientist taking his own sweet time on the course came to light.

Soon after, DeChambeau went into defensive mode, and that began the ‘hate-hate’ relationship between the two. While there were rumors that the dynamic between Bryson DeChambeau & Brooks Koepka had changed ever since they joined LIV Golf, recent video footage featuring the two paints a different story.
Shared by @livgolf_league, @smashgc, and @crushers_gc on Instagram, fans evidently saw the awkward conversation between the two captains of their LIV Golf teams unfold. The caption may have been deceptive to hint at a positive interaction as it said, “The vibes are immaculate. Almost time #TheShowdown,” but the truth, as every fan saw, was quite different.
DeChambeau kicked off the conversation by sharing “I’m excited” as he nudged towards Koepka before stating, “Finally, after him kicking my ass.” The 5x majors’ winner quickly retaliated with, “It wasn’t much of a match,” possibly suggesting that he was evidently the better of the two. Koepka continued mentioning how it’s good that they are getting teamed up as they “Talked about it, I think it’s the Ryder Cup back in 2021.” He finally ended the conversation with, “It’s good to be able to team up and see what we can do.”

While it was evident that Bryson DeChambeau was trying to keep the mood light and joke around, Brooks Koepka definitely took offense to that. The 2024 U.S. Open winner read the situation and awkwardly tried to look away. All this was caught by the fans as they strongly reacted to the scene presented by LIV Golf.

It was evident to almost everyone that the situation between Brooks Koepka & Bryson DeChambeau was still tense. @adrianwrightsa said “The chemistry of a bowl of noodle soup 😂,” suggesting that the team-up is definitely going to be a slippery slope possibly indicating that The Showdown will be filled with a lot of drama, despite the presence of the drama slayer. “Brooks literally hates him so much still I can see it in his eyes 😂,” said @alex_mccarson, pointing out the uncomfortable interaction.

@mark.burgess.golf had a bit of criticism for Koepka: “Really find brooks lacks personality,” which is clearly the opposite of DeChambeau’s energy. @bubbadogs also had something negative to say about Bruce Cupcake as they mentioned how “Brooks the most unlikeable athlete in pro sports,” also stating that they hate Koepka. “I don’t like how Bryson has to stoop down and take this from brooks but either way here’s to great golf 🍻,” said @r15ener as they came into the defense of the mega YouTube golf star and 2x U.S. Open winner.
The Showdown is set to begin in a few hours and LIV Golf fans would be hoping that Brooks Koepka & Bryson DeChambeau can sort out their difference before their battle with Scottie Scheffler & Rory McIlroy begins. The live coverage of the event at the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas will be broadcast on December 17, 2024, from 6 P.M. onwards on TNT Sports.
