The wait for LIV Golf is nearly over. With its second season debut only days away, the Saudi-backed series has been creating a huge buzz. But alongside those who are excited about it are also those fans who are skeptical about its return. And with the series’ most recent news, it seems like the skeptics prevailed as the enthusiasm for the Tour seems to have died off. In fact, the fans have instead been infuriated, and reports now have them yelling fraud claims and trashing the breakaway Tour.

Golf World brutally takes down LIV Golf

The Tour of Defectors’ fourth event of the season travels to Australia to the Grange Golf Club in April. And recently the tickets for this event went live. And as Nine News in Australia reported, they didn’t last too long on the open market. “The tickets to Saturday and Sunday’s event have now sold out,” said the reporter live on the air.

But to the fans’ ears, the news was too good to be true! And well, that gave rise to if it’s too good to be true, then it must be false. They lashed out at the new Tour, calling them frauds and fakes for lying and spreading fake news.

Furthermore, fans suggested that the Saudi-backed Tour could have only sold out tickets if they had priced them really cheap, like for a dollar.

Fans even claimed that the series and Greg Norman themselves had bought the majority of the tickets just to increase the hype.

Many even claimed that they just didn’t sell tickets at all and just gave them away for free instead of making it seem like they had fans.

What do you think about this suspicion-filled reaction from golf fans? And do you share the same feelings that LIV faked it?

The recent news claimed that close to 60,000 tickets for the three-day event were sold. While the last two days’ tickets were completely sold out, only “a few thousand” remained for Friday. Moreover, almost 40% of all the ticket purchases were “from interstate and overseas,” meaning that people would be traveling from all across the globe to catch a glimpse of the event in April.

LIV, seeing the hugely positive response from the fans with their ticket sales, also wanted to do more for them. Nine News claimed that they were working closely with the Australian government “to try and accommodate more spectators” and perhaps increase the number of fans allowed in the course. If that does pull through, we may just see the Saudi-backed league’s live viewership numbers increase.
