The world of golf is always full of surprises, and the 2025 European Ryder Cup team selection is no exception. As the season heats up, players are giving it their all to secure a spot on the coveted team. One player who’s been making waves is Tyrrell Hatton, and his journey to the Ryder Cup is definitely one to watch.

Tyrrell Hatton has been a consistent performer in recent tournaments, and his chances of making it to the 2025 European Ryder Cup team are looking good. Since the start of the Ryder Cup qualification period, Hatton has played five tournaments and has racked up three top-10 finishes which includes one victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He’s currently sitting third in the European Ryder Cup rankings, just behind Rory McIlroy and Rasmus Højgaard, per the official Ryder Cup website.

When asked about his chances, Hatton said, “I guess Luke [Donald] knows what I’m capable of, or the type of golf that I can produce. Yeah, my job is harder to automatically qualify for the team, but I have five events to do that. So yeah, I’m going to give it my best. And my last three Ryder Cups, I’ve managed to automatically qualify, and I’d love to keep that streak going.”

With his consistent gameplay and past experience, Hatton is well-positioned to make the cut for the 2025 team. As the season unfolds, it’ll be exciting to see how Hatton performs and whether he’ll secure his spot on the 2025 European Ryder Cup team. With his commitment to LIV Golf, Hatton won’t be able to play in all the remaining eligible events, but he’s already accumulated valuable points and has a strong foundation to build on.

While it’s still early to say anything, Hatton’s momentum suggests that he’s got a better shot at making the Ryder Cup team than some of his competitors, including Jon Rahm.

John Rahm is optimistic about his chances at Bethpage

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his appeal against fines and suspensions imposed by the DP World Tour, Jon Rahm remains committed to playing for Europe at Bethpage in September. “I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but I can tell you my plan is to be on that team at Bethpage,” he stated during a press conference at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Rahm’s appeal, which was filed in September, allowed him to continue competing in DP World Tour events, which enables him to meet the minimum requirement of four starts needed for Ryder Cup eligibility.

Rahm’s determination to be part of the European team is pretty unwavering, and he’s eager to achieve victory on American soil. The two-time major winner and reigning LIV Golf individual champion currently ranks 17th in the European Ryder Cup standings, trailing leader Rory McIlroy by over 500 points. Winning an away Ryder Cup has become one of golf’s toughest challenges, with the course set-up evolving significantly to favor the home team. Rahm is well aware of this difficulty but his passion for representing Europe remains solid as he tried to find his way through the current uncertainties surrounding his eligibility and appeal process.
