Tiger Woods and Donald Trump respect each other. Woods has spoken highly of the POTUS in the past. In 2017, they played golf together, and after that Woods was impressed. “What most impressed me was how far he hits the ball at 70 years old. He takes a pretty good lash”, Woods said. Highlighting their bond, he shared, “Our discussion topics were wide-ranging; it was fun. We both enjoyed the bantering, bickering, and needling.” In 2021, Trump said, “As a golfer, he’s just incredible. He’s an incredible guy.” Their bond seems to be only getting better.
Recently, Jay Monahan and Adam Scott met with Trump to speed up the $3B merger, Woods could not help but recognize the effort, and think about the good it will do for the game. “I think that things are going to heal quickly. We’re going to get this game going in the right direction. It’s been heading in the wrong direction for a number of years. The fans want all the top players playing together and we’re going to make that happen,” Woods said.
The duo even played golf together in Florida on Super Bowl morning, just days after 15x major champion’s mum passed away. Charlie was also there. Amid all of these, Trump was speculated to make his appearance at the TGL today to witness the match between Jupiter Links and New York Golf Club. However, Josh Carpenter, golf reporter for the Sports Business Journal shared that such an appearance will not happen today. But one other member of the Trump family can be expected at the SoFi arena.

McIlroy was engaged in a round of golf with the President before his inauguration for his second term at the helm of the United States, sometime in January. He also revealed that Trump had told him that he is not high on the Saudi Fund PIF-backed golf tour, LIV Golf. “I learned that he’s not a fan of the LIV format.” Good news for the PGA Tour fans!
The TGL has seen a host of guest stars attend its events since its inception.
