Is the Showdown's exclusivity a slap in the face to loyal golf fans?

Get ready for golfing glory. We all know the entertainment is right around the corner with the Showdown taking place at the end of the 2024 season. This made-for-tv tournament is currently one of the most anticipated golf events of the year which will take place on December 17, 2024. And you know all the excitement lies in the golfing titans who are competing in the event. Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler from the PGA Tour will face off against Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka from LIV Golf at the Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas.

While ESPN will cover every swing and putt for fans all around the world, UK golf enthusiasts can also catch all the action live on TNT Sports where the 18-hole showdown will be teeing off in the early afternoon and wrapping up in the evening. The players themselves are hyped and so are the fans but what if you want to watch the event live? Well, you can opt for the tickets or can you? Well, we all know that every fan was waiting to get the tickets for the event however now that the tickets to the highly-anticipated Showdown event have surfaced, there’s a shocking catch.

The tickets are not available to the general public, per the latest post Tracking Scheffler shared on X. “Interestingly, another listing for four tickets to the Showdown event with Scheffler/McIlroy/Bryson/Koepka lists that tickets are NOT available to the public. This listing is currently netting a $3,500 bid”, read the post. This whopping high bid has left many fans wondering if they’ll be shut out of the event altogether.

While it’s unclear if the entire event will be closed to the public, this discovery is certainly a red flag. Fans will want to keep a close eye on developments to see if more ticket options become available. For now, it seems only a select few will get to witness golf’s biggest names go head-to-head. However, while many fans think of the event as an amazing tournament only, DeChambeau thinks of something completely altogether.

Bryson DeChambeau is super stoked about the upcoming exhibition match that’s bringing together the best of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf League. The December showdown in Las Vegas will feature DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka taking on Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. According to the golfer, this could be the start of something big – more collaborations between the two golf worlds, giving fans more chances to see top players duke it out beyond just the four majors.

“We always wanted to have a PGA Tour and LIV sort of battle a couple of years ago. We always thought that would be pretty cool and whatnot. But I think it’s going to develop over the course of time and hopefully give the people what they want”, said the golfer.  DeChambeau’s all about unity in golf, and he’s got reason to be proud after killing it in the 2024 majors which included snagging the U.S. Open title.
