The golf world saw a different kind of golf being played at Wynn Golf Club at Wynn, Las Vegas as the popular streaming service saw itself hosting its first-ever life sports event, the Netflix Cup. Four athletes from golf and Formula 1, including the likes of Justin Thomas, Carlos Sainz, and Max Homa among others saw themselves pairing up and duking it out against each other in an exciting manner.

However, the event that kicked off, a little while ago, had an element that went ahead to surprise a lot of people in the golf community in a heartwarming gesture. Moreover, the streaming platform took up this chance to stop many in their tracks as they promoted something else during the tournament in one of their holes, none other than Squid Game!

The live sports event saw four pairs of athletes take each other on in an 8-hole game as one Formula 1 driver teamed up with a golfer from the PGA Tour for the same. However, the TV show streaming service used the show Squid Game to add some extra spice to the event.

Giving the game of golf a fun twist, Netflix introduced the “Squid Game Hole” to the tournament. As per the rules, if any player sinks a hole-in-one at the same, the PGA Tour would donate money to charity, numbering $4.56 million.

The rules at the new hole did come off as nothing short of a revelation as the athletes went ahead to play at the same. The athletes could only make the shot when the eyes of the statue on the podium were not red. If any of the players hit the ball when the eyes were red, then they would have to make the same shot once more.

However, this is not the only thing that the new event took a page out of. They also went ahead to replicate LIV Golf, much to the shock and surprise of many in the community.
