Well, it’s LIV Golf again! The inception of the Saudi-backed league had raked in a lot of controversy. From introducing new additions to the game to providing its players with elevated prize pools, they have turned many heads in their direction. However, this time around it’s the Netflix Cup that has surprised the sporting world with its on-course style.

The live sports event, backed by the popular streaming service, had a grand start at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas. The tournament saw a Formula 1 driver and a golfer pairing up to compete against similar teams. And, much to everyone’s surprise, the competition went ahead to take a page out of the PIF-funded League even after facing a setback, courtesy of none other than ESPN!

Netflix wanted to get in some of the action of Formula 1 as they were reportedly in contention to broadcast the sport in America. However, they were beaten to the game by ESPN, who signed a new deal with the sport to extend their contract.

The new three-year agreement with the cable company acted as nothing short of a jab to Netflix, which, in a bizarre reply of sorts, decided to copy LIV Golf during the much-anticipated live sports event.

When the teams entered the course in the live sports event, they were welcomed with music blasting off in the speakers. The song Industry Baby by Lil Nas X was being played in the background. This was a new style of golf play that was first introduced by the Middle Eastern circuit in its inaugural season.
