Yesterday, it was just Ian Poulter expressing his frustration. Today, the likes of Tyrrell Hatton, Lee Westwood, and Henrik Stenson joined the 48-year-old in sharing his misfortune, not to mention conveying their exasperation while at it. What happened? Well, the group of four LIV Golf Pros have found themselves without their clubs just days before the start of the next event on the Saudi-backed league in Houston.

A tweet from Majesticks GC was reshared by NUCLR GOLF mentioning how “LIV Golfers are having some airline issues,” along with a video of the four professionals reacting to their situation. The cream of the crop came from the interaction between Poulter and Hatton when the former asked him, “Tyrrell where’s your clubs?” and “Where’s your suitcase?” both to which the latter responded, “F**k who knows!” The 2018 Houston Open champ also then took to quip, “Probably back in Heathrow. Well done.”

But that didn’t stop the other two golfers from reacting as well. Stenson went ahead to reply, albeit a bit sarcastically, “Hopefully, Heathrow,” when asked the same by his co-captain, while Westwood’s annoyance was very visible as he responded, “Heathrow,” before quickly continuing as part of his monologue, “Where am I? Houston!” eliciting nothing short of laughter from Poulter.

The 48-year-old Englishman had, the day before, come forward with a complaint aimed at British Airways for misplacing his clubs. The golfer was 3 hours into the flight when the email about his bag not traveling with him came, causing him to express his disappointment: “I checked in 2 hours and 30 minutes before the flight. What could possibly be the excuse?… I wouldn’t have bothered flying if you’re not sending my golf clubs. Can’t swing fresh air.”

All of this happened despite the professional personally checking in his equipment and ensuring it was of the correct size. “Talk about pissed off @british_airways. The golf bag wasn’t overweight. I took it to over size and scanned it and watched it go down the belt.” Despite his efforts, he couldn’t stop what fate had in store for him, or in this case, the airlines. Even so, many in the community were truly confounded by the whole situation.

Hatton is widely known to have a hot personality on the course. During the LIV Golf event in Mayakoba, he expressed his exasperation and turned the air blue after missing the birdie putt. “So many times…” cried out the LIV Golf Pro before cursing, “F**k these greens.” But that was just a preview of what was to come in the following events, especially in Miami after he hit the ball onto the roughs at the par-4, 14th. A user thus humorously responded, “At least Tyrrell is a level-headed guy I’m sure it’ll get solved peacefully.”

A lot of golfers such as Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, and Golden Bear have their own private Jets. A couple of them such as Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy also had them but not anymore. Lefty sold his private jet, the Gulfstream V, which he owned for 20 years in 2021. He then went ahead to partner up with VistaJet following which the HyFlyers GC skipper said, “The greatest decision I made after owning a plane for 20 years was selling it and going with VistaJet because it has reduced my stress levels exponentially.”

Mickelson’s love for the luxury charter operator was evident when he commented under Majesticks GC’s tweet, “Vista jet has never lost luggage. EVER.” Other fans, meanwhile, came forward to ask, “What happened to all the private charters?????” while another commented, “British Airways is a joke.” Ian Poulter would, interestingly, agree!

A video was shared in 2022 that spotted the likes of LIV golfers Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Pat Perez having the time of their lives on a luxury plane. This sparked a lot of buzz in the community, with many believing that the breakaway league had a private jet to escort their golfers. No wonder a fan commented, “Why are they not flying private?”

While all of this is happening in LIV Golf at the moment, the trend kicked off back at the RBC Canadian Open when Adam Hadwin lost his clubs, thanks to Air Canada. It just seems that the other airways are following suit. Regardless, the question still remains; Will the LIV Golf Pros get their clubs back before the start of the Houston event?
