Celine Boutier is having the best season of her professional career. Netting three LPGA Tour victories, including one Major, the French international is striding forward at the ongoing Maybank LPGA Championship as well. However, only a year ago the picture was vastly different.

The current world no. 5, despite notching a handful of top ten finishes, couldn’t get her hands to lift a trophy last year. However, at the tail-end of this season, the 29-year-old LPGA pro is a happy golfer with multiple wins under her belt. In a recent press conference, Boutier talked about how everything has changed in this season.

At the ongoing Maybank LPGA Championship, the 29-year-old golfer was languishing in the 40th position after the first day. But after a fiery start on the Friday second round with nine birdies, she moved to the third position, just one shot behind American LPGA star Rose Zhang and two behind Thai golfer ‘Jasmine’ Suwannapura.

Speaking to the media afterward, the five-time LPGA Tour winner revealed how her expectations changed with her performance. Coming to this year, without any victories in the previous season, the first aim of the French LET star was to bag at least one title. “I feel like coming into this season I just wanted to have a win.”

However, she netted three wins this season, with one Major under her belt. That has changed her expectations, and now she is playing for the top spot at the Maybank Championship. “Now I feel like I’m just trying to play my best, but definitely trying to play for the top spot on the race.”

Another excellent measure of her improvement is her ranking at scrambling. Last year she stood at 75th at scrambling, now she is at the top. On the back of her improvement, she has notched six top-ten finishes in the calendar year. How did her overall year go?

It’s not just in the LPGA Tour where the French golfer has shined. Her blazing form has put her at the top spot in the Race to Costa del Sol rankings in the LET as well. Moreover, the five-time LET winner has climbed to the fifth position in the Rolex World Ranking after finishing last year at 14th.
