The fight for the best golf league in the world is only moments away. Brooks Koepka & Bryson DeChambeau are set to battle Scottie Scheffler & Rory McIlroy in a LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour contest at The Showdown.
LIV Golf has been promoting the event emphatically ever since it was announced. They have even actively promoted the involvement of Rory McIlroy & Scottie Scheffler in the event sharing videos and images of all 4 participants on their official social media channels.
However, that has not been the case with the PGA Tour. The league commissioned by Jay Monahan has not even acknowledged the existence of The Showdown, let alone market Koepka & DeChambeau. Their official channels have generally stayed mum about the event and focused on what the PGA Tour is doing.

However, that changed a few minutes ago as @JoshACarpenter shared a tweet bringing to light @PGATOUR finally discussing The Showdown. However, the post shared by the PGA Tour still caught a lot of attention for one particular reason.
Trying to avoid promoting anything related to LIV Golf, the tweet was captioned, “Catch Scottie and Rory in The Showdown. Coverage begins tonight at 6 p.m. ET on TNT and Max.” Even the image they shared didn’t show any signs of Brooks Koepka & Bryson DeChambeau. The reshared tweet by @JoshACarpenter mentioned, “The PGA Tour acknowledges The Showdown for the first time,” while completely ignoring the fact that the LIV Golf pro was not a part of the conversation.

This received a lot of reactions from the fans as they shared their displeasure with the PGA Tour’s approach to this event.
Fans berate Jay Monahan & the PGA Tour
Sharing such a tweet would have definitely met with a lot of criticism as everyone in the golf community might assume. So it didn’t come as a surprise when @Sean_Zak said, “I don’t blame the Tour for only promoting THESE TWO, but in a world where most fans want pro golf reunified, it feels a bit tone-def to acknowledge just one half of this match,” stating that they understand the American golf league’s stance, but it is still quite upsetting for fans who are looking forward for the merger to go through. The X handle of the popular golf podcast @flushingitgolf also questioned, “Who are they playing against?” hinting that the PGA Tour could have done a better job promoting the event. Another sarcastic response from @FinlayPacks stated, “Wow didn’t know Rory and Scottie were playing a match against each other. Are you sure?,” clearly criticizing the PGA Tour’s misguiding post.

@Houston_NoProb acknowledged the social media team of the PGA Tour as they said, “Bout time yall tweeted about this.” However, @GolfEnthusiast5 assumed that the former was being sarcastic as they mentioned, “Go have a look at Rory’s x feed. He’s not exactly promoting it either!,” suggesting that Rory McIlroy is loyal to the PGA Tour and follows their approach.
The Showdown is set to begin at 6 P.M (E.T.) and will be broadcast on TNT Sports.
