Phil Mickelson became part of the PGA Tour in 1992. The 54-year-old enjoyed a great career on the Tour, earning 45 victories. However, in 2022, he was given a whopping $200 million signing fee, which made him switch to LIV Golf. Ever since, he has missed many opportunities, one such great one being playing at the Presidents Cup.

Kevin Kisner reminisces ‘astronomer’ moment with Phil Mickelson

Kevin Kisner appeared on the Smylie Show, hosted by Smylie Kaufman, ahead of his debut at The Sentry in January. As he spoke about his career and greatest moments, the 3X PGA Tour champion shared a story from the 2017 Presidents Cup, which involved 54-year-old Phil Mickelson and an astronomer!

He was paired with Mickelson at the Liberty National Golf Course that week. According to Kisner, the pairing was based on advice given by an ‘astronomer’ to Mickelson. In all probability, Kisner must have meant an astrologer; either way, the situation was a strange one. Mickelson shared the advice with Steve Stricker, the then-US captain.

Well, this was not all that made the incident unusual. The ‘astronomer’ had even told Phil Mickelson that Kisner would have to face him on every shot to pull the energy from his belly. “This is the weirdest sh– I’ve ever done in my life,” he added.

Phil Mickelson has been a part of the PGA Tour for nearly three decades. It is safe to say that Lefty has not only delivered outstanding performances but has also provided great comic relief. Whether it’s his debut on social media or his engaging talk, he has created many memorable moments.

On August 1, 2018, Phil Mickelson showed up at the practice round with Tiger Woods wearing a long-sleeve button-down shirt at Augusta National. It was part of his advertising for the apparel company both on and off the course. While the on-course appearance was humorous, it was the commercial posted online that garnered all the attention. In the advertisement posted on X, Phil Mickelson was seen wearing the shirt with blue jeans on the golfing greens at night.

Spotlights shone on him from all sides. Jazz music played as the LIV Golfer did things that his fans would never imagine seeing him do. From doing the worm to dancing to the beats to karate-chopping balls flying at him in a superimposed range, he did it all to the rhythm of the music. Fans undoubtedly had a great laugh watching the video.
