Why does Tiger Woods wear red colors on Sunday?
Every golf and the nongolf person will remember Woods from his traditional red and black colors on Sunday. Moreover, every Sunday in the final round of any event, the World Golf Hall of Fame member is seen wearing red shirts with black golf pants. On Sunday, the golf fans first saw Tiger rocking the red colors at the 1997 Masters. In the major championship was wearing a dark red Nike sweater along with black pants. Moreover, Woods won with a whopping 12 stroke lead on that very Sunday in 1997.
However, it might be the first time fans saw Woods wearing the red and black color. But his love for the colors dates back to his junior days when Tiger played junior golf. He used to wear red and black colors in the final round of events in high school and even when he went to Stanford. Moreover, just like every other athlete, Woods also wears it because of his superstition. He spoke about the start of wearing Sunday red after the AT&T National in 2013.
He said, “I’ve worn red ever since my college days basically, or junior golf days – big events on the last day. I just stuck with it out of superstition, and it worked. I just happened to choose a school that actually was red, and we wore red on our final day of events. So it worked out.” Moreover, Tiger’s mother, Kultida also has a major hand in Woods wearing red on Sundays.
Woods added, “I wear red on Sundays because my mum thinks that that’s my power color. And you know you should always listen to your mom.” Looks like Woods’ mom gave him just the right advice. Which helped Tiger win events on Sunday.
