It was only the restraint of physical well-being that was holding back Tiger Woods from his favorite sport. It has been almost two years and fans are desperately waiting to see him pick up his clubs again. And to their relief, Woods has slowly started making small appearances here and there.

This has ignited hope in fans, who feel that Woods will soon get over his self-imposed break. And on a bigger note, what’s even better is that as his doctors predicted, Tiger is recovering in the expected time.

After his withdrawal from this year’s Masters Tournament giving into the pain, Tiger Woods opted for ankle surgery to reduce his pain. He was seen limping and in pain during the tournament, which subsequently forced him to have a subtalar fusion surgery. The operation was supposed to allow Woods to play pain-free after complete rehabilitation.

After his operation, Dr Bill Mallon, an orthopaedic surgeon who has also played on the PGA Tour, earlier explained that it will take Tiger around six months to recover. He said, “Can he play golf again? Yes, but that’s at least 6 months to a year in the future. His tournaments for 2023 are likely over, and I would not be surprised to not see him play again until Augusta 2024.”

And his prediction has come true. With time, he seems better and better. A Tiger Woods fan page reported that he was back in a red shirt, and participated in the annual Bridgestone golf photo/video shoot yesterday down in Florida.

Dr Mallon also said, “The fact that this is his right foot/ankle is the saving grace, as you need motion in your left foot/ankle as you roll over it near impact.”

Woods’ limp is gone

It has been seven months since. In that period, whenever Woods was sighted, he was limping. However, when he played at the Junior Golf National Championship as a caddie for his son Charlie Woods, he was seen without a limp. This is a positive sign.

In April 2023, Woods was operated upon at the HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York. The surgery was performed by Dr Martin O’Malley. His team had updated later that day that it was a successful surgery. Hopefully, the prediction of Tiger Woods’s recovery and comeback will be proven soon enough.
