What do you think is the best way to buy tickets for the AIG Women’s Open? Yes, you can just visit the website and get one for yourself, but how would it feel when a LPGA Pro hands it over to you? That’s exactly what “genuine, caring” Charley Hull did with one of her super fans, 9-year-old Gracie, on the range of St. Andrews.
The AIG Women’s Open will commence from August 21st to August 25th at St. Andrews. With one week left for the tournament, Hull was recently at the venue and surprised one of her biggest fans. Recently, the R&A YouTube channel shared a video titled “SURPRISED BY YOUR IDOL, CHARLEY HULL.” The video featured Gracie, a nine-year-old who admires pros like Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and Tommy Fleetwood.
However, her “favorite female golfer” is Charley Hull, and the moment she revealed this in the video, Hull sneaked from behind and said, “Hey Gracie.” Witnessing this, the little fan was surprised. The nine-year-old looked extremely happy, but it increased manifolds, all thanks to Hull’s kind gesture.

The golfer took a golf club in her hand and asked, “Is that right if I hit a few balls with you?” Hull’s superfan couldn’t deny it and said, “Yeah, it’s fine,” and they played for a while and talked about various things. Hull asked her many questions and shared her stories as well. The two also engaged in a hole competition. After Hull took her shot, it was Gracie’s turn, and she made a good shot and managed to beat the golfer by two shots. Hull hysterically said that a 9-year-old had defeated her in a competition and then fist-pumped the little girl.

The nine-year-old was overjoyed, accepted the offer, and played some more golf. Witnessing this cute interaction between these two, the golf world was full of happiness and showed a lot of respect toward Hull.

As a nine-year-old, Gracie had a decent swing, and even Charley Hull appreciated it in the video and gave some tips to work on balancing and managing it. This fan expressed something similar and commented, “What a lovely swing she has.” Meanwhile, some simply appreciated the golfer and Gracie with comments like “ACES” and “Excellent Charley!”
With just one day remaining for the Women’s Scottish Open, Charley Hull’s schedule is already packed. Possibly alluding to that one fan comment, “Wonderful of Charley to give up some time and interact with a young fan… I can confirm Charley is ace with all her fans, and this was lovely for Grace, I’m sure.” Despite her busy schedule, which includes two crucial tournaments—the Scottish Open and the British Open, which is next week—she made time to connect with Gracie. This isn’t the first time that golfers have shown tremendous love towards their young fans. Jordan Spieth once invited a few young fans inside the ropes during an event to sign autographs and take a few pictures with them.
One fan took the golfer’s kind gesture into account and said, “You can’t put a price on how happy Charlie made this little girl feel. She will remember this day forever. Maybe one day, this little girl will be able to return the favor to some other little girl.” Golfers love their little fans. Rickie Fowler also created a similar heartwarming moment with a Make-A-Wish recipient, Parker Milkos, during the Rocket Mortgage Classic this year. Fowler also received appreciation from the golf world and received similar comments like, “What a great thing to do. Lifetime memories.”

Another fan expressed similar feelings, saying, “Genuine, caring, and a moment that young lady will remember forever. Well done.” They pointed out how Hull surprised Gracie and made her day special by spending some time playing with the young fan. This entire experience became a memorable moment that Gracie is likely to cherish for a lifetime. Speaking of kind gestures toward little fans, Bryson DeChambeau did something similar this year after the PGA Championship. While walking out of the course after completing his round, the golfer casually tossed his golf ball toward a kid. However, the little fan was unable to catch it, and someone else took it. Witnessing this, DeChambeau came back and yelled at the other fan who took it and asked him to give the ball back to the kid.
