We all know how Tiger Woods’s form has been declining day after day, and the 2024 Masters Tournament was a harsh reminder of his struggles. Woods shot a dismal 10-over 82, his worst score in a major championship, with a round that included eight bogeys and two double-bogeys. It was a tough day to watch, with wayward tee shots, missed putts, and drives into the trees – like that frustrating shot at No. 14. Woods himself admitted that his lower back was limiting him and that he was simply hitting the ball poorly and putting poorly. Despite his recent struggles, Woods has shown incredible resilience throughout his career, and his fans are still holding out hope for a comeback. But can 2025 be the year when Woods adds another green jacket to his wardrobe?

In the latest episode of The Smylie Kaufman Show on YouTube, Kaufman shared his thoughts on Tiger Woods’s chances of winning his 6th green jacket at the Masters. Despite Woods’s forgotten form, Kaufman believes that he can still have “one more magical moment” at Augusta National. “I feel like just like how Freddy Couples every year when he would show up to the Masters didn’t matter how old he was, he’d find a way to like find his way into contention,” Kaufman said. “To me, that feels like the only place that Tiger can still have that one more magical moment.”

Kaufman acknowledged that Woods’s data from recent years doesn’t look promising, but he’s not ruling out the possibility of Woods making a comeback. Notably, the former pro golfer pointed out that Woods’s recent performances, including his play at TGL and the PNC Championship, have shown glimpses of his old form. “I know the Hope meter is like really low on the bar, but out of a hundred, if we were at W, maybe we’re closer to 10 now,” Kaufman said. “I’ve seen enough now, I will say that the rust is definitely there, you could see it in TGL at times with shots, but I’m not ruling out the fact that Tiger can make the cut at the Masters and be a somewhat part of a storyline.”

Ironically, the last tournament Woods won was the Masters, and what a win it was!

Tiger Woods’s historic fifth Masters title

In 2019, Tiger Woods made history at the Masters Tournament, claiming his fifth green jacket in an emotional and thrilling finale. At 43 years old, Woods proved that he still had what it took to win at the highest level, overcoming four back surgeries and four knee operations to achieve this incredible feat. His victory was a testament to his resilience and determination, and it marked one of the greatest comebacks in sports history.

Woods’s win was a moment that will be etched in the memories of golf fans forever. “To have the opportunity to come back like this, it is probably one of the biggest wins I’ve had for sure,” Woods said. With this win, Woods moved past Arnold Palmer and is now one behind Jack Nicklaus for the most green jackets in history. He’s also three majors behind Nicklaus’s record of 18. As Woods celebrated his historic win, the golf world was reminded of his incredible talent and determination, and we can’t help but wonder what’s next for this golf legend.
