Would you sacrifice your lifelong dreams for your child's health like Jane Park did?

When it comes to their children, parents often find themselves willing to sacrifice their dreams. Such is the story of former LPGA Tour player Jane Park, who set aside her career and kept her clubs down for her daughter, Grace. Now, Park’s full-time focus is on Grace, always by her side whenever she needs to. At just 10 months old, Grace started suffering from relentless seizures, later diagnosed as intractable epilepsy—a condition that led Park to let go of her professional career.

Fans last saw her tee up at the 2023 Dow Invitational with Paula Creamer. Since then she’s been absent from the course, connecting with fans only through Instagram, where she shares updates on Grace’s health journey. A few days ago, Park posted a hopeful message, telling her followers that Grace might soon be discharged from the hospital. She asked, “Keep your fingers, toes, and everything else crossed for us. Thank you!”

And perhaps the prayers seem to have come true, as in a new update, Park shared that her beautiful daughter is home. She joyfully wrote, “We’re home! Will wean off oxygen slowly over the next few days. Thank you for getting us through another hospital stay. You guys really don’t know how much it means for you to show up time and again.”

It’s been a long road for the Park family, filled with hospital stays and endless waiting rooms, and though the hospital has become a part of their lives, the dread that comes with each visit never really fades. “Unpacking and putting things away after the hospital,” Park wrote in another story, “might be the second worst thing about a hospital stay (aside from going in the first place).”

She also expressed gratitude for the nurses who have supported her and Grace. “Shoutout to all the nurses that are the freaking glue in every hospital,” she wrote. While it’s hard to truly understand the pain Park has endured all this while, the strength she’s found in those standing beside her has been a constant source of comfort.

Whether it was the hospital nurses or the concerned fans rallying behind her, each one played a part in supporting the former golfer through the darkest days. With so many standing by her, the LPGA Tour made sure not to be left behind.

“I’m there.” Sometimes, those three words are all you need when you’re struggling. While it’s not always possible to be physically present during someone’s hardest days, even a small gesture of encouragement can make all the difference. The LPGA Tour did exactly this and chose to honor Jane Park’s strength by recognizing all she had endured.

At the 2023 CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida, the LPGA Tour presented Park with the Heather Farr Perseverance Award. With her husband, Pete Godfrey, and her daughter, Grace, by her side, Park accepted the award. What she endured was far from ordinary, and this shift in her life made a huge difference in her perspective. Park shared, “I think this type of trauma just changes your DNA.” Once fully focused on her golf career, she now embraces each day with Grace, never taking a moment for granted.

And through it all, Park’s friends on the LPGA Tour never left her side. Thanking them, Park shared, “Somehow, while we were dead in our despair, we started to breathe again. You guys gave me the tools to not end my life when I felt like life had ended.”
