So far there was silence. Now there is none. Ex-LIV Golf pro, Eugenio Chacarra, a former world no. 2 amateur, accused the Saudi-backed side of selling pipe dreams and favoritism. The former teammate of Sergio Garcia was frustrated at the lack of benefits other than money on LIV Golf.

I see what it’s like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes. How you get major access and ranking points. On LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn’t matter if you finish thirtieth or first, only money. I’m not a guy who wants more money,” Chacarra told Flushing It Golf in a podcast.

The 24-year-old Spaniard’s frustration stemmed from the fact that winning in LIV doesn’t guarantee a place in the majors or the Ryder Cup. Neither does it offer any world ranking points. So far, there hasn’t been any response from the LIV Golf after Chacarra’s comments. Now, LIV Golf commentator, Jerry Foltz blasted the youngster.

Foltz, in the Fairway to Heaven podcast, admitted the comments rubbed him the wrong way. The veteran commentator said, “There’s a lot of it that simply isn’t true but be that as it may he didn’t finish in the top 24 in the Lock Zone. There’s a reason why we didn’t talk about him very much it’s because he didn’t play very well over the last two years. Secondly, he was still within the Open Zone but none of the teams wanted him. “Instead of placing blame on the league, place blame looking in the mirror.  There’s a reason why they didn’t want him and that’s because of the character he has displayed over two-and-a-half seasons with LIV. ”

Chacarra finished the season in 39th among 54 players this season; a year ago he was 32nd. The Spaniard netted only one top-ten in the LIV Golf last season. However, Chacarra has performed fairly well in the Asian Tour International Series netting three top-fives last year. His lone win came in 2022. The youngster also alleged that LIV Golf promoted the ‘same guys’ despite him being the only young winner on the breakaway side. That, however, hasn’t done anything to dissuade youngsters from flocking to LIV.

Eugenio Chacarra is not emblematic of the youngster situation in LIV

Chacarra’s contract expired this year. Interestingly, the Spanish International said last October that he would want to play another season in LIV Golf. Chacarra was also willing to tee off in the LIV Golf Promotions, but later he skipped. While LIV critics have used the Chacarra situation to point out that actions have consequences for youngsters, that’s not dissuading the future generation of stars. Tom McKibbin, who earned his PGA Tour card this year, is likely to jump ship to LIV and join Jon Rahm’s team, Legion XIII.

McKibbin, like Chacarra, is a promising star with already on DP World Tour title under his belt. Rory McIlroy revealed he had a long talk with him. But apparently, the young Northern Irishman has already made up his mind about joining LIV Golf. Even though Rory McIlroy reveled in the presser, it might be a worthy tradeoff considering the current situation regarding the Ryder Cup and LIV Golfers. Uncertainty looms over Jon Rahm‘s position at the 2025 Ryder Cup as well.  There is no clarity on whether McKibbin will join LIV, but if anything, McIlroy’s comments hinted that he failed to convince his compatriot to stay on the PGA Tour.
