I was coming close to winning a tournament. Why not win? Why not just clip this, spin it to the right three feet, and make the putt? I go, ‘Why not?’ I started saying that, and so to do it, they started stamping my golf balls.

His journey of being a golf instructor has been challenging but incredible. It started out rocky but then gradually found its pace. “The first couple years, you’re out there and you’re winging it. And telling everybody the same thing. Once you get confident in your teaching and your playing, it just gets better.”

Block tries to customize his teaching to fit every student’s needs. He really likes to strategize and customize his lessons so that every student can learn in the best possible way. He said he does not try to teach his students the swings of famous golfers because that’s not how they will learn. “I don’t teach one way. I teach what that person has the capability of doing and learning, and that’s been a huge benefit of teaching for the last 25 years for me.” He says that it is important to be realistic with the skills, “That’s a big thing. I try to be honest with my guys.”
