When the stakes are high, there are bound to be times when frustrations boil over. Especially when it is one of the most iconic tournaments, aka The Masters. Augusta has seen two days of brilliant golf, but not without its moments on the course. One such moment took place between Jordan Spieth and his caddie Michael Greller, with the latter getting caught in the crossfire.

Jordan Spieth has had a very difficult second day at the Masters. It is evident from his frustrations with Holly, the 18th. His shot clipped a tree, and he let his caddie of 14 years, Michael Greller, bear the brunt of his thoughts. Spieth was clearly bothered by the wayward shot, stating, “At this point, 4 is out the window. It’s not happening. … I’m so frustrated.”

His caddie, Greller, tried to push him in the right way by saying, “Well, get over it, you gotta get over it.”  However, unfortunately, Spieth was not having any of  it, adding, “That’s a full fu***** shot.”

The three-time Major winner is currently T40 on the leaderboard with a score of 2 over par. While he did make the cut, the standards for the University of Texas grad are quite high. He was expecting to be in contention for his second-ever Masters title, but he is ten strokes off the lead. Hence the frustration. But this sure wasn’t the first time.

Just very recently, at the Valspar Championship’s final round, he found rough near a white tent-like structure, and his reaction was just “F**k.”He ended up finishing 28th.  At the 2023 US Open, Spieth was unhappy with one of the shots, and literally dropped one of the loudest f-bombs ever. He ended up finishing T13 at the event.

Fans did not take too kindly to the incident, with many voicing their contrasting opinions on social media.

Spieth’s row at Holly was a truly entertaining spectacle, capping off a brilliant day of golf. It provided a bit of off-the-ball entertainment for the people who were following the broadcast. One fan stated, “Epic Jordan hot mic on 18 now. What a finish to this broadcast!!”

Jordan Spieth does have a history of hitting trees, but usually, Lady Luck smiles at him then. Remember the CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament, where he hit the grove of trees, but the ball rolled back onto the fairway? This time, though, luck did not favor the American golfer. “The Masters doesn’t truly begin until Jordan Spieth hits a tree and has an existential crisis,” another fan added. One fan also begged him to avoid the trees and subsequently, the stress that comes with doing so, the next time he lines up a shot, stating, “Try not hitting a tree next time Jordan.”

“Watching Jordan Spieth play golf is hilarious. You wonder how he was ever a top player. Total head case,” commented another fan. The 18th hole has been a very tough one to navigate for several golfers, including the five-time Major winner Brooks Koepka. Koepka was at 1 over par and within the cutline heading to Holly before he shot a devastating quadruple bogey on the last hole, pushing him out of the cutline and away from a shot at the sixth major. He will have to wait again.

Spieth and his caddie Greller have been together since 2011. So it is not the first time that the caddie has seen Spieth in difficult circumstances. One fan quipped, “Spieth might shoot Michael Greller in the head before they get off 18,” due to his frustrations.

The Jordan Spieth experience is now a very common moniker for a day of topsy-turvy golf, where one moment you are absolutely buzzing with some good shots, and the next, your stroke is off and the ball is heading out of bounds. The fans got a taste of that this Masters.
