Was Phil Mickelson dedicated to golf?
The story goes back to Thanksgiving Day, 1985, when Mickelson was 15. His mother told the story, and she said her son approached her. Mary was preparing dinner for 30 guests for Thanksgiving. The pro golfer went to his mother and asked her to accompany him to the golf course. Mary immediately denied saying she was busy. However, after 4-5 hours, he was nowhere to be found. She looked at her husband, and he looked at her simultaneously. At that moment, she knew where her son was.

Mickelson’s father tipped “the kid next door to drive him down to the golf course,” said Mary. The golfer’s parents hopped in their car and drove to the golf course. They saw PGA Champion on the far end of the golf course. They got out of the vehicle, and the LIV defector said something which blew her mind. He said, “Mom, every day I don’t practice is another day until I’m great.”
Complete amazement caught the former PGA golfer’s mother. She said, “I’m thinking to myself, ‘wow, he did it. That was a great answer. There was no punishment; it was done.” She was so impressed that she could not even punish Mickelson for sneaking out. However, not to mention that the pro golfer was mere 15 years old kid. His dedication was evident in his words.
