LIV Golf brings something unique to the golf world: team events. It’s one of the ways the Saudi-backed league hopes to gather a wider audience. And so far, fans seem to be loving it. But the fans aren’t the only ones; the players too eagerly look forward to the team’s events. Among those most excited about the team element is Bryson DeChambeau. The 2020 US Open winner recently even opened up about his mindset while competing in these team events.
Bryson DeChambeau talks about his game focus
’The Scientist’ is captaining the Crushers GC, just like in the last season. But unlike the 2022 season, where the Crushers narrowly missed multiple victories, this year the tide has completely overturned. In the first event itself, his team managed to grab a win by a whopping 11 strokes over the reigning team champions, the 4 Aces.

DeChambeau, of course, was more than thrilled with the team win, and in the post-match interview, he revealed what was on his mind while competing for it alongside his teammates. “I was fighting like I was playing for an individual title,” he said. “It’s just the way it feels out there when you’re competing for your guys.”
He explained that his individual score was the last thing on his mind during the match. “Every shot mattered,” he stated. “It didn’t matter where I was or what position I was in for the individual title.” The one-time major winner was only focused on how he could help his team perform better. “It was how can I make birdie on this hole.” He added. “That’s what my goal was today.”

Following the Crushers’ splendid win, the 8-time PGA Tour winner was beaming with pride. He refused to talk about how any individual member of the team performed in the match. To him, they had won as a team, and had they lost, they would have lost collectively. “It’s a team deal,” he stated boldly.
But the win also boosted the captain’s confidence. “We got the dub, and we’re going to get more this year,” he said with determination. And if the Crushers continue to perform like they did last week, well, then nothing can really stop DeChambeau’s prediction from coming true!
