This year there were a few young names on the LPGA Tour who completely stole the show with their incredible performances. And one of them is Allisen Corpuz. With her maiden win on the LPGA and that too in a major, i.e., US Women’s Open, the 25-year-old proved her metal. Her overall performance for the rest of the year was also no less impressive.

But it was not always that Corpuz had the confidence to compete this fiercely. Before she turned pro, she had her heart full of fear and uncertainty about the future.

Corpuz turned pro in 2021 after she graduated from the Q-School and got her LPGA card for the next year. Before that, she briefly had an amateur career that spanned over almost a decade, where she also won some events. But before crossing the line to the professional threshold, she was worried about a lot of things related to the end.

Before she ends this year, Corpuz sat down for a candid interview on the Real podcast where she opened up about her initial fears. She says that she was always afraid of just turning pro and feared that she would not be able to fulfill other dreams like motherhood if she continued to work without any success. She says, “I mean, like, at the end of the day, like I do have other dreams, right?”

Corpuz continues, “Like, eventually, not anytime soon, but long term, like I want to be a mom like I want to have a family and just the thought of maybe turning pro and not being successful for 1015 years.” In her heart, she feared how she would make any money if she had no success in the field. She adds, “Just continuing to grind out that and just not really knowing like, if I’m ever gonna make a ton of money, or like how successful I’m gonna be.”

Well, the 25-year-old has nothing to worry about on that front as this year she earned a total of $3,094,813 on the Tour. Her hard work has been aptly rewarded on the financial front. But these thoughts gave her a lot of anxiety at a young age and continued until she started doing well.

In the interview, Corpuz conveyed that these thoughts gave her a lot of anxiety, making her ponder if golf really was a viable career. She doesn’t want to get stuck trying to make a career and not being able to do other things. But it turns out all her fears proved wrong as her hard work is taking her to great heights. Some of her best finishes for this year include a solo second at the Greater Toledo classic, T6 at the AIG Women’s Open, T17 at the CP Women’s Open, and T15 at the Maybank Championship.

And apart from the Women’s Open, she also did fairly well in two other majors. She finished T4 at the Chevron Championship and T6 at the British Open. Clearly, she has found her flow this year. After assessing all these, anyone would say that Corpuz is a successful champion in making.
