Filling in the shoes of Rory McIlroy was never going to be easy. On top of that, Jordan Spieth is dealing with a problem of his own. Speaking to the media from the Bahamas, the 13-time PGA Tour winner spoke about why he was out of the greens for some time after the Ryder Cup.
Notably, the patriotic outing was a harrowing nightmare for the US Team. In the much-maligned away campaign, Spieth raked in only one point from a possible four. However, the American International didn’t suffer a nervous breakdown after the debacle. But indeed, it was a bizarre ‘nerve’ issue due to which he had to push the pause button on his pro career.

The 30-year-old is in the Bahamas gearing up for the upcoming Hero World Challenge. Ahead of the tournament, the three-time Major Winner spoke to the media. His absence from the greens since September was due to a bizarre kitchen incident that forced him into physical therapy.
Notably, the wrist injury has caused troubles earlier as well for American Linksman. In May, he missed the PGA Tour’s $9.5 million AT&T Byron Nelson near his hometown of Dallas. The niggling injury was also the main culprit behind his shocking crash out from the Wells Fargo Championship.
At that time, Spieth injured his wrist while playing with his son. This time, too, Spieth injured his wrist while… wait for it, making breakfast for his son. “I was reaching for a toaster to make my son breakfast and I was just supporting it on the shelf.” Confounding? Even the American golfer sounded baffled.

Nevertheless, Jordan Spieth has detected the source of the injury and taken physical therapy. The injury stemmed from the ulnar nerve and he is still in recovery mode but expects to give his all in the upcoming tournament. Well, physically and mentally, he should be at his best now that he has an additional responsibility on his shoulders.

Spieth succeeded McIlroy in the administrative role

Given the fact the Northern Irish linksman still had a year left on his term and with the December 31 deadline for the $3B PGAT-DP World Tour-PIF merger deal fast approaching, his bowing out left many questions unanswered. But the remaining members were swift in bringing a replacement – Jordan Spieth.

His role as a player-director couldn’t come at a more momentous time in history. The position gives him some say in the ongoing negotiations with PIF. Moreover, the Tour has attracted considerable sponsor interest in recent months. Spieth and other board members will also decide which way the Tour is going in the next year. Interestingly, the board, now consisting of Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods, Peter Malnati, Webb Simpson, Charley Hoffman, and Jordan Spieth, is without a representative from the other side of the pond.
