TGL is under heavy scrutiny again, but why? Well, while the league is doing better than LIV Golf did in its initial days, TGL is still not immune to mistakes. One of the issues that has raised eyebrows is the way they handled a recent interview, but it all seemed fine, right? No, wrong. Unlike the traditional approach where you actually go in person to interview the players unless you are not at the venue, TGL began with Scott Van Pelt interviewing Ludvig Aberg from the studio. This unusual approach left some viewers feeling disconnected from the game, and well, we can’t blame them.

In a recent podcast by Drop Zone on Spotify, James Colgan revealed why he thinks Scott Van Pelt’s fan approach was not what he had expected from an ESPN announcer. “I’m literally probably one of the world’s biggest Scott Van Pelt fans,” he began on a good note however it took a turn when he revealed that he felt that starting the broadcast in the studio instead of at the arena was a mistake.

“It felt like a step removed to then have SVP interviewing like Ludvig from the studio. When he’s there in person, it’s like, take me there right away.” Colgan’s sentiments were echoed by another commentator, who noted that the broadcast didn’t feel the same and described the moment as “it was just one of those weird nights” and “it was strange.”

The unusual broadcast approach has sparked debate among golf fans, with some defending the decision and others calling for a more traditional format. As one commentator pointed out, “Going forward, it made sense as an introduction as a guy welcoming you to like, ‘hey, here’s a new league, here’s a new thing that didn’t exist until today,’ but I’m curious how they’ll handle that going forward.” Another commentator added, “It was just, it was a broadcast where I kept watching and thinking, oh man, I want to tweak that. I can; I want to change that up.”

Serena Williams trolls Tiger Woods after LAGC’s dominant win

Tiger Woods surely had a rocky start to the TGL season, and no, we’re not talking about the hate TGL got from fans. His team, Jupiter Links Golf Club (JLGC), was handed a crushing 12-1 defeat by Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), which is led by none other than tennis superstar Serena Williams. The dominant win gave Williams bragging rights over Woods, and well, she couldn’t resist taking a jab at him on social media. Williams’ team, which included Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegla, was on fire and left Woods and his teammates, Kevin Kisner and Max Homa, struggling to keep up.

The match had its moments, though. When Woods finally managed to sink a putt and score a point for his team, she jokingly said, “It’s about time Tiger.” His mother, Kultida, was overjoyed and celebrated her son’s small victory. Despite the lopsided score, Woods took the loss in stride, and the TGL season is just getting started.
