Elvis Smylie clinched his first DP World Tour title by beating Australia’s favorite Cameron Smith. This happened at the 2024 Australian PGA Championship. Smylie finished two strokes ahead of Smith with a perfect 67, including a series of number-crunching par putts in the last stretch.

The 22-year-old’s success has sparked curiosity about his support system. After winning €210,871.74 on November 24th, Smylie went straight to his loving, supportive, and talented parents, showcasing his gratitude with a warm hug. While the family shared a moment, their expressions screamed how much they supported their son. But for a golfer, along with parents, their clubs too that support them for the fiery birdies and eagles. Just like in the case of Elvis Smylie.

A peek through Elvis Smylie’s clubs

Before playing for the British Open this year in Scotland, Smylie made some changes to his driver and fairway. The pro has now a set of 14 Titleist clubs. At the beginning of the season, he changed to the $649 GT3 driver with a Blue Ventus shaft that has a 10-degree head.

Stating the reason, he said, “I noticed a difference in the trajectory of the ball flight, a little bit higher, which I like because I’m quite a low spin player.” Earlier, the DP Tour winner used to have a 5-wood shaft, but now, moving to 3 that has a shorter length priced at $399 helps the star have more control over his strokes. Along with that, he also uses a 15-degree, black Tensei shaft, which has a D4 setting.

For irons, he uses a Titleist T150 with a Dynamic Gold 120 grams X100 from the 3-iron. The golfer disclosed that he has been “using this, especially around Royal Troon and those Scotland courses.” We doubt not that Smylie’s go-to iron will be the same as he hits his balls quite low for gorgeous flights at the 2025 British Open since he likes to use this at golf links.

Additionally, from iron-4 to 9, his bag carries the T100 with the same shafts for a clean hit. All of them together cost a total of $1,400. But there’s also a hidden gem that Smylie has been attached to for the last two years. “I can’t see myself getting out of them for a very long time. I love the flight that it comes out at, and I love the control that it has as well, ” he said when talking about his favorite set of irons. It’s none other than the Dynamic Gold 120 grams in the X100 with the Golf Pride Multi Compound groups.

The left-handed player also has a good collection of wedges that he is absolutely in love with! Smylie uses a 46 with an F grind having 10 degrees, along with a 50, 56, and 60. He has an F grind 50-degree 50 wedge with 12 degrees of bounce, and then the 56 one has an S grind and is 10 degrees. He thinks highly of these wedges; “So when I’m playing in conditions that are really tight firm, it’s a great tool to have, especially when you want to open the club up and you don’t want to use too much bounce. So having that low bounce really helps clip the ball off the turf really nicely.”

For that final nudge, you need a good putter and Smylie knows. He also speaks highly of his new putter.

What is Elvis Smylie’s winning putter and ball?

When it comes to balls, the 22-year-old has the new Titleist two-dot ball, the Pro V1x golf ball, costing $55 per dozen. This is loved by most pros. Moving on to his putters, the golfer shifted from a blade putter back to a mallet putter, which had a little center shaft as well. Mallet putters have been a hit this season. Top players like Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda have used them this year, and we all know that has worked out.

“Moving into probably what my new favorite club is in the bag is my putter… I [had] been using a blade for a very long time. So going from a blade putter back to a mallet putter is something a little bit different, but it’s got a little centre shaft as well… It helps sit your hands in a really nice position. And I’ve been using this for the first three events of the season here in Australia, and I’ve managed to get my first professional win with it. And this has definitely been a reason why I got over the line, so I can’t see myself changing this anytime soon,” said Smylie of his putter change.
