The LIV Series, the DP World Tower, and the PGA Tour have been doing the rounds for the probable merger in the future. In the middle of this another news has flared up, a master plan by Jay Monahan of the PGA Tour and Yassir Al-Rumayyan of Saudi Arabia – Elite Global Golf Tour!

Elite Global Golf Tour would be comprised of 18 tournaments across the DP World Tour, PGA Tour, and the LIV Golf series. This is expected to be launched in 2025 it’s supposed to be a part of the peace deal with Saudi Arabia PIF.

What is the Elite Global Golf Tour?

In the Elite Global Golf Tour, the top golfers of the world would be invited as a part of the extraordinary peace deal with Saudi Arabia is PIF.

There might be a united global schedule that would involve tournaments from all three tours, the framework for which was probably signed in June. However, despite this merger, the three tours will continue to operate independently till the next year.

It is clear that these changes will take place in the year 2025. The framework agreement was unclear and light on detail but the rumour has it that Saudi investment will be close to £2 billion.

Another news doing the rounds is an umbrella organization which is proposed to be run by PGA Tour to control all three other tours.

Placing PGA Tour on a pedestal over the three tours?

Unlike the current scenario wearing the players are supposed to pick the tour and stick to that specific tour, the players will be allowed to appear on any of the three tours. In addition to this, they can play the series of 18 events with the four majors being additionally carved out, with invitations only extended to the top-notch players.

12 out of the 18 tournaments will take place in America. This is a step to place the PGA Tour higher above the others. The balance three events will be European and LIV events. As a step to further incentivize these 18 tournaments and to prove that they are for the elitist of the golfers the prize money would be around £20 million per event.

This is also a step towards reducing the discrepancy and the disparity with respect to prize money on the three tours. The decision-making power now gives more weightage to the golfers as compared to the independent directors thanks to the addition of Tiger Woods. His addition has helped golfers outnumber the other board members.
