Tiger Woods is widely considered the greatest golfer of all time. Although his professional life looks perfect, his personal life was far from perfect. In fact, one of his mistakes led his ex-wife to lash out in rage!

More than 10 years ago, in 2009, reports stated that Woods had been in a car accident near his Florida home. Reportedly, his SUV had hit a fire hydrant and then a tree, after which his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, had to use his 9-iron to smash the window to get her husband out of the locked SUV. 

Many doubted whether the news was true or not. And then, the report from TMZ revealed that none of the stories related to the incident were true! 

Did Woods’ ex-wife hurt him intentionally? 

According to TMZ’s report, the facial laceration and other injuries Woods had were not an outcome of the accident. But, it was his ex-wife that had caused them. 

Reportedly, Nordegren confronted Woods about the news articles regarding his affair with another woman. And she scratched his face after the confrontation turned into a heated argument.

According to TMZ, a source leaked details of the incident to them, and according to it, the golfer tried to leave the place in his SUV. Nordegren then went on to followed him with his club and struck the vehicle a couple of times. Since Woods was distracted from the event, he couldn’t control his SUV and hit the fire hydrant and a tree in the process. 

Notably, Woods later denied all these allegations and took full responsibility for the situation.

How long did Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s marriage last? 

After getting engaged in 2003, Woods and Nordegren tied the knot in 2004. The couple had their first child- a daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, born in 2007, and a son, Charlie Axel Woods, born in 2009. 

Although they led a beautiful life together for 5 years, their life took a turn a for the worst. The couple got into a fight, which led to their divorce, because of a scandal that he was involved in. Moreover,  Nordegren received $100 million as divorce settlement. 

Notably, Woods and Nordegren decided to co-parent their children and are reportedly best friends. Following their divorce, the exes live their life with their respective partners. 

What happened in the past cannot be undone. However, the golfer and his ex-wife have moved on from that dark phase in their lives and now lead happy lives on their own.
