The first 2024 presidential election debate just ended! And amidst the plethora of topics that Donald Trump and Joe Biden discussed, funnily enough, the game of golf was also brought up. As is known, golf has been a frequent pastime of US presidents, including Biden and Trump. However, Trump might just play it more than the 46th president.

During the debate, Biden revealed that he had asked the 45th president to play a game with him if he carried his own bag. And as Trump took jabs at the current president’s ability to drive his ball to fifty yards, Biden gave him a reminder. Recalling the days when he used to play golf and was a vice president under Barack Obama’s administration, Biden said, “I reduced my handicap to a six,” at that time.

Trump declared it as the biggest lie and denied that Biden had a six handicap. which Biden later clarified that it might have increased to an eight. Seeing the two presidential candidates fight over golf was a perfect evening plan for golf fans, as it has never been the case before.

Donald Trump has many courses named after him and on various occasions, the former president has declared to win club championships. However, many times, Trump has been accused of cheating and manipulating the scores to just earn victory. On the other hand, Trump denying Joe Biden’s handicap score claims was a bit shocking. Dan Rapaport of Barstool Sports was enjoying the debate as well as seeing this one-of-a-kind situation. He posted on X (previously Twitter). “Vanity handicap accusations in a presidential debate. Truly incredible.”

Another golf entity amused by golf making it to the 2024 presidential election debate was Trevor Immelman. Notably, over a dozen sports have been played in America but the two candidates did not discuss any other sports. Only golf could have the honor. The major winner in amusement, said, “Everyone loves golf.” What if this year’s presidential elections were to be finalized by not votes but something else? Or if it ended up in a tie, after this debate, the two candidates probably had another way of securing the presidential seat. This fan hilariously proposed an idea. They jokingly asked, “Election decided by 18-hole stroke play??”

There is another candidate in line for the 2024 elections and it might be the most surprising one. Although Bryson DeChambeau has not applied for it, given his recent rise on fans’ favorite golfer lists and playing incredible golf, if it comes down to being a president over golf, he should be one. That is according to the pro golfer and social media influencer, Hailey Ostrom. After watching the debate, she posted, “I think I’m voting Bryson 2024. He’s quite smart, hits the ball a long ways AND he won the US Open twice.”
