Even since its inauguration in 1929, the PGA Tour has been known to be the most prominent organization for golf. However, since last year, the spotlight has largely shifted to LIV Golf. Coming to force, the Saudi Arabia-backed league has been in the process to rope in some of the biggest names in the sport. However, despite multiple attempts, it has failed to pull in some patriots of the PGA Tour. One of them has been the PGA Tour veteran, Fred Couples.

LIV Golf has been in the spotlight for various reasons. However, one that tops the list is its massive financial commitments. While the money-minting contracts of LIV Golf have seemingly managed to rope in some of the biggest names of golf, it isn’t the case with Fred Couples. A loyalist of the PGA Tour, the former world number one recently took a dig at LIV Golf players.

Fred Couples calls out players who moved to LIV Golf

Following a T28 finish at the Boeing Classic last month, Couples opted to take some time off the golf course to spend time with his newlywed wife, Suzanne Hannemann. Ever since LIV Golf’s inauguration, Couples has been the front runner in calling out the league and the entities attached to it. Early last month, encountering the rage of Couple’s aggressive stance against LIV Golf was its CEO, former Australian player Greg Norman.

Indulging in a conversation with a media house, the former PGA Player of the Year took a dig at Norman. “I have a funny feeling I know where it’s coming and it’s coming from their leader, who no one’s liked for 25 years,” Norman said, in a tone clearly showing his anger. “And that’s not being mean, that’s just — that’s the truth. He’s not a friend of mine, but he never would be because we don’t get along. But he’s running a tour that he thinks is incredible.”
