The biggest matches of the tournament

On January 7, 2025, we will see the New York Golf Club battle it out against The Bay Golf Club. The New York Golf Club features world no. 2 Xander Schauffele teaming up with Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, and Cameron Young. The team is owned by Cohen Private Ventures. They will go up against the formidable team of Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry of The Bay Golf Club. What’s your perspective on:

Will Tiger Woods' team dominate, or is Rory McIlroy's squad the real threat in TGL?

Have an interesting take?

The two other teams to feature in the event will be co-owner Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf and the Atlanta Drive GC. Other than McIlroy, the Fenway Sports Group-owned team also includes a tough squad of Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, and Keegan Bradley. The last team of the Atlanta Drive GC features Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, and Lucas Glover. Arthur M. Blank of the AMB Sports and Entertainment is the owner of Atlanta Drive GC.

Everyone would be eager to see the contest between both the co-owners. Considering the reports we have had so far, we can assume that both teams are rigorously preparing to face each other during TGL. In fact, the teams of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are not scheduled to participate at the beginning of the 2024 PGA Tour season. All the players from both teams will be unavailable for the Tour events until they face each other on January 27, 2025.

These were some of the first few exciting matches of TGL. But what does the rest of the tournament look like? Let’s explore the remaining schedule.

TGL Schedule Overview

It is worth mentioning that all the matches of the tournament will be played on Mondays and Tuesdays. This means that most of the matches will not directly coincide with the PGA Tour events. Hence, every player is free to join the tour events even when they are participating in the TGL. But considering the schedule, it might get too hectic for any professional who chooses to do so.

Most days of the tournament will only feature one match. However, there are a few dates where we might witness two or even three matches being played throughout the day. The first multi-match day will be on February 7, 2025. On this day, we will see all six teams fight it off against each other across three different matches. The scheduled time for each of the matches is 1 PM, 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. Alternatively, on February 24 and March 3, we will see two matches being played each day. On February 24, we will get to watch the first match at 5:00 PM and the second at 9:00 PM. The schedule for March 3 is slightly different as match 1 will be played at 3:00 PM and match 2 at 7:00 PM.

Speaking of different timings, there is no signal fixed time scheduled even on single-match days. While most one-match days are scheduled for either 7:00 PM or 9:00, there is one game between the co-owners that is scheduled for 6:30 PM.

What’s even more concerning is that during the three-match day, we will get to witness the Atlanta Drive GC and The Bay Golf Club teams play twice in two different fixtures. We can imagine how hectic it might get for the players from both teams.
